introduction

• An infection or disease which is transmit from animals(vertebrates) to humans under normal condition.

• It is disease of warm blooded animals • Now researchers have found 13 so-called zoonoses

are responsible for 2.2 million human deaths every year.

Spread, transfer……

• Dogs, fox , cats, bats, jackals, wolves etc…….When humans come in contact with these animals these disease occur• Saliva , animal bite scratches, aerosols, licks,

urine, tears, serum, feaces……• It can transfer byBacteria,virus, fungi , parasite, etc

Zoonotic disease• Common zoonotic disease- Dengue, chikungunya, malaria, west nile virus

these disease can even transfer from mosquito bites

Salmonella infection by chicken, snake,kittens, turtle,

Lyme disease, and rocky mountain fever from tick bite

E.coli infection its common infection u can even get by visiting zoo

Rabies, plaque, toxoplamosis, cat scratch disease, hantavirus

symptoms

• It can be different depending on parasite,but common symptoms are-

1. Diarrhea2. Muscle aches3. Fever4. Chills5. Weight loss6. Abdominal crams……..etc

Diagnosis

• Microscopic examination• History of exposure• Characteristics eosinophilic inclusion(negri

bodys)- these can be found inside nerve cells particularly in hippocampus and this is the pathogenic sign in rabies.

treatment• Pre exposure prophylaxis- 3standard IM doses of cell-cultured vaccine on day

0,7,21, 28. Persons who are in direct contact like diagnostic lab

workers , wildlife workers. veterinarians ,animal hunters , rabies , biological

product workers etc.• Post Exposure Management – Local wound Treatment followed by cleansing of wound

by an alcohol , soap water, ether ,aq. Soln. of iodine . Avoid wound suturing until and unless unevitable Anti Tetanus injection, Antibiotics , analgesics

Prevention

• Sick animals must be isolated • Proper vaccination with alum precipitated antigen of

animal .• Always wash your hands after handling your animals .• Use bug repellents , mosquito repellents • Get rid of any standing water • Check your dogs and cats for ticks • Spray your clothing • Medical care of skin
