Were you taught about mental health as a kid?
How can we use this data to improve understanding of
mental health?
World of EmotionsA game to introducekids to mental health.
How?
Goals
1. Use the data
2. Make it fun
3. Teach them about mental health
Gameplay
- World-based, the kids can navigate around the world.
- They can see a visual depiction of somebody’s emotions (based off the data).
- Simple multiple-choice questions.
Language for kids
Common: - Happy - Sad - Angry
Uncommon: - Anxious -> Butterflies - Powerful -> Excited - Peaceful -> Calm
Positive images would also be used to help get the message across and add a positive-spin to negative emotions.
Gamification
Kids are given simple multiple choice questions.
If they get it right, they get a prize: One of the six emotions.
When they get all six emotions, they can unlock a new location.
Long-term goals
- Adding something like HITWF into the game to encourage kids to share their emotions.
- Other games for older ages to teach them more about mental health.
