Why should we become comfortable with technology and informatics in patient care and administration
• Patient CareNursing informatics can facilitateand support nursing research by evaluating patientoutcomes, evidence-based practice, standardizedterminologies, and provide effective nursing care.
• Budget and FinanceExecutives use nursing informatics to help themwith cost containment, improved workflows, decisionsupport, budgeting tools, and trending costsand savings. and virtual knowledge bases. (McGonigle, 2014)O
What strategies can we provide to increase new hires comfort with informatics
We will be completing a crossword quiz, at the end of this lecture. After, completion, you will be awarded certificates of completion.
Here is a search engine that will assist you in completing the NI crossword quiz
CONCLUSION Utilize your Resources
• Get to know your I.T. Person• Attend all hospital in-service training• Take on-line computer classes• Spend time with the Unit Secretary and
ask for additional training• Ask Nurses on the Unit for assistance, as
needed• Ask your children and grandchildren for
help. They are wizzes at the computer.
And don’t be embarrassed to ASK for help
