eyesight or face death to this type of childhood cancer that has one of the best cure rates. No family should have to go through the unspeakable pain of losing a child.

What is Retinoblastoma• A life threatening cancer that affects

children• Grows from the retina, which is a sensory

layer located inside the eye• In extreme cases the cancer affects both

the eyes• Detected early has the best cure rate• Treatment

• The treatment depends a lot on how advanced the cancer is when treatment starts.

• Treatment options available to the doctors are chemotherapy, radiation and potentially laser or freezing therapy

• 92% children with eye cancer live in developing countries

• 80% of children affected lose their lives due to late discovery

• Every day 4 children with this disease are born in India of which one child dies

• In developed countries this cancer has the best cure rates (95-98%)

Project – Find the Blind• THE REALITY

• For every one child in the developed world, there are more than 6 blind children in India

• Each of these suffer a lifetime of blindness• The problem is late detection• WHO considers the control of childhood

blindness in developing countries a global public health priority

• OUR AIM• Awareness of pediatric eye-care • Community- based, primary-care eye screening

programs for children from birth onwards to identify and treat those at risk at an early age

• With early diagnosis and treatment, we can preserve vision and save lives
