What is this session about?

Applying IoT to improving safety inside an unattended car (or vehicle) when there are restrained unattended occupants on a hot summer day.

The potential danger with unattended vehicles

A quick run into the grocery store, to the bank for a quick transaction, or to pickup food can turn dangerous with restrained unattended occupants – a child or a pet – in the car.

Even when the car is in the driveway of a home

… a child could slip into a vehicle unnoticed.

The tipping point

The IoT solution for this use case was inspired by and dedicated to the children and pets left unattended in vehicles, where temperatures reached highs that were fatal or caused irreversible harm.

The SolutionEnable an array of sensors to detect distressed sound, frantic movement, high temperatures and low humidity to trigger an alarm-based on a threshold

… even when it is unarmed, thus ensuring unattended children and pets are monitored.

ZigBeeCommunicationThe assembly in the vehicle has a number of sensors that are

collecting data and sending to the integrator unit. The integrator is constantly computing to sense the event threshold. Additionally, alternate sensors help rule out false positives.

Integrating to the Connected Car

: Improving Safety inside the Unattended Car

The sensor array that has a collector is localizing the data and determining if the event that is looking has occurred.

The solution would be integrated with the vehicle's CAN bus, external Z-Wave/ZigBee hubs and/or GPRS to send links to external systems.
