PREACHING

• Broadband Internet is become more widely available, the cost of connecting is decreasing, more devices are being created with Wi-Fi capabilities and sensors built into them, technology costs are going down, and smartphone penetration is sky-rocketing.  All of these things are creating a "perfect storm" for the IoT.

SO WHAT IS INTERNET OF THINGS?

• The concept of the Internet of Things was invented by and term coined by Peter T. Lewis in September 1985• It is an Interconnection(Internet) of physical devices(Things) embedded

with sensors that collect and exchange data• Simply put, this is the concept of basically connecting any device with an

on and off switch to the Internet (and/or to each other). This includes everything from cellphones, coffee makers, washing machines, headphones, lamps, wearable devices and almost anything else you can think of.

HOW WILL IT BENEFIT HUMANS?

• What if your alarm clock wakes you up at 6 am in the morning and then notifies your coffee machine to prepare your coffee so that you will save some time.• Another example, imagine your refrigerator text’s reminding to bring

so eggs while coming from office, because the eggs are out of stock!!• After a long day at work, you are finally about to reach home, as your

car is about 5 mins from your home, it will notify the home sensors and will automatically switch on the air conditioner.

WHERE IS IT ACTUALLY BEING USED?

• Internet of things is every where with its applications increasing exponentially day by day.• 1. Smart Homes

• All home devices are interconnected and communicate with each other.

• 2. Wearables• Used in smart watches to track day to day physical activities

• 3. Connected car• 4. Smart retail (Amazon GO)
