2. In the middle of the screen, locate and click the green button Sign up now to begin creating your Twitter account.

3. Enter your Full Name, Username, Password and Email – you will be notified if your Username is taken or if your Password is weak.

7. You will come to a screen that walks you through seeing if your friends are on Twitter, choose Skip this step (at the very bottom of the screen).

8. You are then prompted with the option to follow popular Twitter users. Choose Skip this Step.

9. Now you are ready to start tweeting!

10. Your Twitter username is located on the upper right (in this example, hhuffington).

11. The big text box under What are you doing? is

where you enter a tweet.

12. @hhuffington is how someone would send you a public message or mention you in a tweet (note: all your followers can see that message/tweet).

13. If someone sends you a private message (called Direct Message or DM), it will appear in your Twitter timeline for only you to see or you can choose Direct Messages to view the private message.
