Advantages of a PMO
The result is improved operational efficiency and effectiveness
De-links most of the Initiation, Planning,
Monitoring & Control responsibilities from the PMs and entrusts such
critical works to the hands of experienced PMO
team.
Makes PMs focus on Execution of what has been
planned so as to enable them to "do it right first“, and Close what has been
executed so that resources can be released to other
projects ASAP.
Builds Organizational Process Assets (OPAs), on a continuous
basis, through templates, documentation of lessons
learned, archiving the knowledge-base for future
estimation, institutionalization of lessons learned, and planning for preventive
actions.
