HARDWARE RESOURCES
• Include all physical devices and materials used in information processing
• includes not only machines, but also all data media, that is, tangible objects on which data are recorded.

• People resources include end users and Information system Specialists.
• The Management & employees of National Bank of Pakistan: End users and Knowledge workers of information system.
• The Information system Specialists develop and operate information systems.
• The system analysts design information systems of the Bank.
• The software developers create computer programs based on the specification of system analysts.
SOFTWARE RESOURCES
• Include all sets of information processing instructions.• Includes sets of operating instructions called programs.• Two major software resources of NBP are• System Software: NBP uses Windows Operating
System.• Application Software: Bank uses BBO system,
Microsoft Office suit as application software.
DATA RESOURCES
• Data resources are typically organized, stored, and accessed by a variety of data resource management technologies
• Data about Branch transactions is accumulated, processed, and stored in a BBO system

DECISION MAKING PROCESS
COMPUTER DEPARTMENT
The National Bank of Pakistan has three types of branches all over Pakistan: Online branches Batch branches Manual branches
ONLINE BRANCHES
The branches are directly linked with central computer AS-400, through wide area networking through fiber optics.
BATCH BRANCHES
1. The branches where all transactions are carried out with the computer base system.
2. Batch branches are using three type of system:
• Branch Back Office (BBO) based on FoxPro, • Branch Automated System based (BAS) on UNIX, • Branch Integrated System (BIS) based on FoxPro
MANUAL BRANCHES
• The branches where all transactions are carried out manually and records are maintained on registers usually stored in big wardrobes.
• Manual branches reports Regional head office regarding their daily transactions.
• Then data from Regional head office goes to head office or to the data entry department.
DATA ENTRY DEPARTMENT
• The next task after receiving the data is to enter that data in to a computer.
• Here, the floppy disk is directly inserted in the computer.
• The program in used is based on “COBOL” language demand “Hash Value” value before opening the floppy for further action.
HEAD OFFICE DATA MANAGEMENT
• When the data entry at data entry department completes and goes to the central computer, now the task of Head Office Karachi DATA management starts
• They consolidate the data of all the 27 regions of the bank, made comprehensive report and present the data to the SBU (Strategic Business Unit) for the ultimate strategy formulation of the bank.
