To the Directors of the Barack Obama Presidential Foundation:
The Barack Obama Presidential Library and Museum in Washington,
D.C., The Nation’s Capitol, will be the place where the life, work and
continuing legacy of Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States
will be shared to the World.
There are 14 organizations that have collectively come together for
The Barack Obama Presidential Library and Museum - 13 private and state
organizations and the United States Congress.
As the second term for President Barack Obama comes to a close, I
reflect to the time when President Obama first took office. This was a time
of excitement, a time where the future looked bright and a time when we all
collectively pledged to work together for the good of the Country.
As during the course of human events, our Nation’s course and
journey has been and continues to be interrupted by unforeseen and
unanticipated situations, including therein those carried from the past.
Many have become judgmental as to whether there is success or
failure in any action or program during President Obama’s Administration.
There appears to be no middle ground, intervening moment for
correction or median measurement. Success or failure, thumbs up or
thumbs down, as Emperors, judgment is being made.
As the world has come closer together and all countries seek
partnerships and economic ties, we cannot as a Nation lead by example by
displaying to the people of America and the people of the World a
demonstrated inability of solving internal strife. The internal disharmony of
Congress to act, without casting doubt as to the motivation and intent, for
delays in enacting legislation, petty bickering among legislators, and the
inability to act as a body united for the benefit of the people compromises
America’s standing as the global power.
President Obama began, by birth, educational choices and career
choices, beginnings in Hawaii, Illinois and New York. The outreach and
extension by all to participate is a true indication that President Barack
Obama has touched the lives of many.
To have cooperative libraries emanating from Washington, D.C. will
promote, enhance and extend to the people of the 47 States, the
noncontiguous states of Alaska and Hawaii, the off-shore territories of
American Samoa and Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana
Islands, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands,
and by the Compact of Free Association (COFA), the Federated States of
Micronesia (FSM) the islands of Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae, the Republic of
Palau (ROP) and the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), the continuing
legacy of President Barack Obama whose good and continued work touched
and made changes to better their lives.
President Barack Obama’s work and continued work is towards:
Justice and Equality
Civil Rights and Human Rights
Global Peace and Global Unity
Environmental Protection and Environmental Sustainability
Many have challenged President Barack Obama, his use of the power
of the Presidency and Executive Privilege. My response is, “The true
measurement of strength and courage of a leader is the challenges made to
the accepted perimeters and boundaries of what is and what should be.”
True, there are programs that have been implemented and have been
revealed that are reasonable causes for concern, for our personal privacy
and as citizens of the United States living under the principles established by
the United States Constitution and Amendments to the Constitution. As
citizens our duty and responsibility is to challenge and voice our opinions.
Our public officials at every level of government are bound as to serve the
people. As elected officials each pledged to work diligently and focused for
the good of the citizens they represent. By doing so, they in turn, pledged
to put aside their personal interests and personal biases. To those who have
not stood by their pledges to serve with honesty, integrity and transparency,
they should be held accountable.
This is my final statement, the final call, to you, the Directors of the
Barack Obama Presidential Foundation.
