We live in high-stress, ultra busy world today, and it’s almost impossible to find the time to sit down, relax, and take a few deep breaths once in a while, right?
Yet, if we are unable to fully relax, this could be the ONE THING holding you back from learning how to burn fat and achieve your weight loss goals.
Why?
Because, when you’re stressed, uptight and unable to breathe deeply…
…your ability to digest and absorb your food properly is compromised. And that means you will find it difficult to burn fat!
The Sabertooth Tiger Survival Mechanism…
Let’s face it… If our bodies were so smart, they’d acknowledge we live in a high stress, busy world, and digest our food faster so we can get back to work and be more effective, right?
Unfortunately, that’s just not the case. You see, our bodies are survival machines.
They evolved to do one thing – survive.
Your body could care less if YOU want to lose weight and burn fat.
When you’re stressed, your body releases a hormone called cortisol.
Cortisol helps you metabolize resources in your body for fight – or flight.
Now, cortisol is GREAT if you’re running away from sabertooth tigers.
But not so useful with the lower forms of stress we face in our work and personal lives.
You see when I was training stress management we spent a great deal of time learning how to breathe!
It is vital for health and well being. So a few minutes before you plan on eating, take 6 deep breaths.
Put one hand on your chest, and one hand on your belly. When you inhale, focus on your abdominals rising higher than your chest. If it’s not, you need to breathe deeper into your belly.
Take 6 breaths over the course of a few minutes. Breathe in for 8 seconds, hold for 8 seconds & exhale through pursed lips for 8 seconds and repeat.
By the end of this, you should feel much more relaxed – and you’re now ready to eat and digest your food properly.
You must remember to breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.
