DOING CHORES
• Chores require work and sacrifice, but with these two actions, come freedom. We voted in an earlier meeting, on the system we would like to use to complete our chores, and that’s the use of the zone system.
CHORES-THE ZONE SYSTEM
• The house will be split into four ‘zones’ or areas. You will be responsible for one month, to make sure your zone is clean. A map of zones will be shown on the last page of this presentation.
DEFINING CLEAN:
• During the week and on Sundays, clean means everything in your zone is in its proper place. On Saturdays, it’s the same thing; however, vacuuming, dusting, window washing, floor sweeping, counter cleaning, toilet cleaning, etc. (In other words deep-cleaning), will be required.
PROCEDURES:By 8:30 pm, everybody will have:
• Picked up and put away anything that doesn’t belong. If it’s an item that everyone uses, such as a remote control for the t.v., put it away in its proper place. If it belongs to a family member, put it in your zone’s basket. All items in baskets remaining at 8:30pm nightly will be locked up until family member earns it back by doing extra chores.
• Saturdays will mean deeper cleaning, for example, during the week, you may not need to dust or sweep or wash windows (unless it’s obviously necessary), but you will have to on Saturdays.
• You will be trained on your chores and the necessary supplies will be in your zone’s basket, unless the item is too large to fitin your basket (like the vacuum cleaner or broom)
If the responsibilities above are not complete by 8:30 pm, then you will lose your media for the remainder of the day and theentire next day. If ignoring responsibilities continues, you will be subject to more restrictions limiting your freedom.
LAUNDRY
• You are responsible for taking your dirty clothes to the laundry room. Once this is done, you are responsible for:
• Washing them
• Drying them
• Sorting and folding them
• Putting them away
If you do not have enough clothes to fill the washer, take someone else’s from the dirty clothes hamper and throw them in. This all has to be complete by 8:30pm, or you will lose media for the rest of the day plus the next day. It’s the same penalty as not performing your responsibilities.
