High exposure to UV rays causes pannus in the dog's eye. This is common in sunny climate areas where they spent a lot of times outside. Pannus, thickens the scar tissue over the cornea. German Shepherds are primarily affected by pannus while it may also occur among Border Collies, Dachshunds, Greyhounds and Siberian Huskies.
