Photography: All images of Chicago in this presentation were taken by me. Having a city with such a rich history in architecture and beauty, I couldn’t help but develop a love for photography and architecture.

I also play video games, socialize with friends, attend sport events, and research architecture as smaller hobbies.

Issues:◦ The lack of good education and a

stronger family unit◦ Leading to the lack of better jobs

available◦ Leading to the choice of fast

money◦ Leading to violence against your

fellow man◦ Ultimately leading to the lack of

certain family members in the family unit are some of the major issues in my community. This circle of violence however, is just the umbrella over the other ‘smaller’ equally important issues.

Besides the clear 2nd chance this program offers, it has opened my eyes to my own abilities.

I am constantly reminded that as a person I have the potential to make some type of change for the better in my community.

I was born in Englewood, but raised in Chicago Lawn, a safer area on the southwest side of the city. At 21, I moved back to Englewood, this opened my eyes even more to the stories I would hear from my family members who weren’t as fortunate to remove themselves from the gang life and violence that plagues the city.

If after i.c.stars, I personally, can make an impact on someone that is trying to do good but sees nothing but hurdles, then I shall go do good. I may not be able to change the world but I hope to God I can help make Englewood the place it first was, a wealthy neighborhood that people were clamoring to get into.
