Are we killing ourselves?

Majority of people view technology like computers, machines as clever. e.g. iCloud is a place to store data, why use it? When we ourselves can store it.

Company are made starting as a website because many things are free they are selling themselves short.

Humans have designed more clever robots to make people seem dumber, we are eliminating ourselves.

As designers that use programs, we may be considered as Mac Monkeys.

This century’s generation are now creating robots for certain purposes, and as robots they are only program by a person to respond in certain ways. If people think robots are so great because they don’t need to be paid to work and can be monitored by one person, we are restricting ourselves of actual jobs in economics and human contact.

How stupid are these new invention using robots?

Robot that can answer questions for a certain response and is program to have human body language to make it look more human and can light up with different colours.

It has programed response that the creators think would be asked. E.g. How are you today? Can you sing? And because it can, the presenters interviewing it ask it to sing. They asked the robot can it do their job? It’s response is ‘Yes’.

On the other hand, a company produced a child robot which has no face expression and it keeps repeating programed questions and response to certain questions that the Autism child may ask.

The feedback from places that has these new robots says Autism children who had use them, likes that it doesn’t have emotion to read, they feel less pressure when talking to it. They find it’s easier to communicate to a robot than a human being.

“We maybe great designers, but are we creating for the right things?”

The Autism child hasn’t learnt human expressions and in the real world a person wouldn’t have a programed response.

Is it too late to turn back?

What would it take to get people to stop relying on digital technology and get back to taking care of things themselves?

Before all jobs are taken by computers that function by codes and machines that have human hands? Than we are left with unemployment. Or children with difficulty are suffering even more due to a person who designed something without thinking of long term effects? If it were put into care homes, people there can be considered as valueless human beings who lack society communication and with robots as carers they will have no human contact.

Would it take a war between humans and robots before people realised we have disabled ourselves from improvement upon the human race?

What if we removed technology and signs?

Someone did an experiment of taking away the traffic lights and road signs in a busy junction area. Drivers had to think for themselves in terms of when to drive and stop to let others past. Due to lack of help from extra things, people had to be 100% aware of what they’re doing. They will drive with more care because they wouldn’t want to crash and expects the same awareness from other drivers.
