Introduction to Nigeria’s Challenges My country Nigeria of 170 million people. Some call us the “Giant of Africa” others call us the “Giant disappointment of Africa” due to the many problems which include:1. Corruption - Transparency International deemed Nigeria one of the most corrupt
nations in the world (33rd most corrupt country in 2013).
2. Crime and terrorism - specifically Boko Haram insurgency
3. Unemployment- 24% of Nigerians are unemployed. Official Nigerian statistics say
38% of those under 24 are unemployed, World Bank estimates closer to 80%.
4. Education and university systems - Low budget allocation to education and very
low quality graduates with more preference for foreign education by employers
5. The environment and healthcare- Several oil spills per year in Niger Delta and
average life expectancy is 38.3 (WHO Report) one of the lowest in Africa.
6. Infrastructure - unreliable power supply, poor roads and public amenities
7. Women issues – Archaic traditions, women discrimination and violence.
8. Lack of Civic Pride and Patriotism in Nigeria - Nigerians suffers from a deficit of
civic pride and collective responsibility. Preference to procure foreign goods
9. Deceptive Fraud -419 crimes: The stories and experiences are endless worldwide
What's the Possible Solution:“We the citizens need to take more individual and collective initiatives towardscorrecting some of our social issues (Economy & society ) rather than sitting aroundcomplaining and waiting for our leaders to solve everything– Jide Ipaye”
My Contribution:Build a world class footwear brand that will have manufacturing setup in Nigeria,
creating economic empowerment opportunity for thousands as well as giving 10% of
all sales towards correcting some of our social challenges first in Nigeria, Africa and
then Globally.
How to Achieve this:1. 1st Sept to 4th Dec 2015 - Crowd fund to raise the total sum of $3,000,000
2. 6th Dec 2015 to 30th June 2016 –Launch brand & Outsource initial manufacturing
3. 6th Dec 2015 to 30th June 2016- Acquire world class knowledge to build factory
4. 1st July 2016 – Setup world-class Footwear Plant in Nigeria & commence
operations
1. Get Gov. support & concessions
2. Start with simplest product line & ramp up production ( flip flops, sandals, espadrilles, sneakers)
3. Sell, sell, sell ( increase sales and 10% contribution to social causes)
4. Latest 1st Dec 2016 – Assemble & ship the world smartest Shoe made in Africa!
5. 2017 Export to Africa and the rest of the world
The Keexs Project Impact Strategy
Our social impact will be delivered the i3 way:
1. Inform: Keep telling the world about the
social issues that exist
2. Inspire: Tell stories of society influencers
and and inspire others about their social
concerns
3. Invest: Focus on sustainable & scalable
projects –Teach them how to fish & not
give them fish!
