The Greatest Neighborhoods in the United States

According to the American Planning Association (APA), these five neighborhoods are the BEST in the US. Let’s take a look for ourselves.

1. Downtown Santa Ana – Santa Ana, CA

Santa Ana was founded in 1869 and is part of the Greater Los Angeles Area. In 2011, Forbes ranked Santa Ana the 4th safest city in the United States. But, what makes Santa Ana’s downtown area so great? This is a city that was nearly torn down to nothing in the 80s and has come back to life and is now a “hip” neighborhood, filled with unique restaurants and cool architecture. They just approved a plan to turn an abandoned bus terminal into a homeless services center. Now, that’s cool!

2. Midtown Atlanta - Atlanta

Midtown Atlanta is a popular neighborhood situated between the commercial and financial districts of Downtown to Buckhead. The area receives about six million visitors each year. Midtown has many cultural attractions, three institutions of higher education, and some pretty cool architecture. This area is known as Atlanta’s “heart of the arts”.

3. Old Louisville – Louisville, Kentucky

Old Louisville is about 48 blocks of entirely Victorian architecture. The area was made into a historic preservation district in 1975. Since then, the area has continued to improve with new shops and restaurants. Today, you will see many young professionals and college students encompassing the area.

4. Nob Hill – Albuquerque, New Mexico

Nob Hill is getting tourists from all over coming to see their eclectic mix of locally owned businesses. It’s been said to be its hippest, funkiest retail and entertainment district. The neighborhood was developed between 1925 and 1950 and since then has become super famous for its shopping and a cool destination for tourists.

5. Downtown Warren – Warren, Rhode Island

Downtown Warren is a place to go for many different activities. From arts, food, shopping, antiques, history….They’ve got it all! But what sets Warren apart? Warren is a tiny neighborhood in a tiny town in a tiny state. But, they have a big local community! New farm-to-table restaurants, local businesses and shops. This is a cute little town you don’t want to miss.
