Context Sensitive Menu

4

Users are familiar with it – make easier to start with Vertex

Focus in object which is modified

Less movements between toolbar menus

Intuitive, guides you through what can be done to the object – easier to learn

Makes possible totally new methods in UI development

Vertex BD 2014Context sensitive menu, why

Page 5: Vertex BD. Development of 2014 version

5

Old functions are still available in toolbar menu and they are similar than in earlier version

When nothing is selected, there is mainly add function in context menu (right mouse click)

When component or grip point of component is selected, context menu shows functions than can be used for component or edge of component

Context sensitive menu is the same, regardless of where it is opened: from drawing, model or object tree

Object Tree View

Page 10: Vertex BD. Development of 2014 version

10

Visibility management of model has been one of the top features in our customers wish list. Object tree view is Vertex answer!

Object tree view is one view to project and creates new possibilities to modify components and manage visibility of them

Main reason for development has been to improve tools to hide and unhide components – single or multiple

Vertex BD 2014Object Tree View, why

Page 11: Vertex BD. Development of 2014 version

11

New object tree view is all the time available

All components are shown in tree view

Components are sorted by component type and relations of them

Floor is one level in hierarchy

Selection from tree view are exactly same than selection from model or drawing

Context sensitive menu of object is same regardless of where it was selected

On top of the tree view is visibility filter, which can be used show only some parts in model or drawing. In addition of those, there is also available normal standard hiding tools to hide components one by one or by branch or by selecting multiple components.

New graphic window and door library interface

Page 13: Vertex BD. Development of 2014 version

13

Opening libraries are using now new component browser

New library is visual. Window and doors are selected based in preview image created from 3D model -> easy and fast to find object wanted

When object is selected, properties can be edited in same dialog. It’s also possible to add opening directly to model without editing properties of them.

It’s possible to classify object in library by type or group them by selection class field in library

If there is different types grouped with same classification of selection type, one item as shown in browser as a representation of group. When group branch is opened in browser tree, all items are shown in browser.

Frame design, framing tools are similar now

Page 16: Vertex BD. Development of 2014 version

16

Framing tools how they are connected to structure and how they are managed and modified are made uniform for different object types

Changes are made to improve usability and maintenance

Framing tools can be now defined for horizontal structures same way with walls in library. Library interfaces are still different, but will be make similar in future.

Custom update tools will do necessary changes to libraries automatically. More detailed information will be available in version 2014 manual

In version 2014 floor, ceiling and roof framing can be generated similar with walls many layers at the same time. Framing tools are defined layer by layer. Different layer can have different tools. When generating parts of structure, parts of all layers are generated at the same time. This makes generation and modification process faster for multilayer structures.

Truss Generator

Page 18: Vertex BD. Development of 2014 version

18

Intelligent truss frame generation tool

Add vertical on ridge, in angle of top/bottom chord, at the support, at connecting truss

User can select spacing, profile size (web, top/bottom chord, ties), web and ties start from and generation rules like web face direction

Default setting can saved easily to library using same interface

Supports different shapes of trusses

Verticals at support

Web direction face up/down, start from top/bottom

Single or double end

User can define ties

New ways to define lights: Image based lighting, area light, indirect lighting are now available

More photorealism

Indirect lighting will raise quality of the inside perspective pictures to new level

Soft and transparent shadows

Easy way to save and load rendering environsment

Vertex BD 2014Renewed rendering

24

Rendering material editing is now simple and easy

Editing single material and mass editing has been improved

Rendering materials utilize properties of siding (rise of one board and direction) – rendering textures are parametric -> modifications and maintenance are easier

New parametric rendering materials for paints and wooden sidings and roof

Related to rendering, improvement in component presentation

Profiles: Texture of section can be different than long edge

Accurate machine seamed steel roof shape of tile roof

Accurate wall shape of siding support now with curved shapes

Minor, but significant enhancements • Rotate model with middle button of mouse

• Rotating of model is now faster and better

• Ctrl+A, selection before pressing Ctrl+A is used as filtering criteria – only same types are allowed for selection

Vertex will publish truss engineering for Australian market in early 2014. Truss engineering at that time will contain support for Australian building code

Vertex plan is to develop Eurocode support for truss engineering during year 2014. Release date will be informed later on.

There exists national annex in every country in Europe. First annex supported will be UK national annex.

Truss supported at beginning are in plane trusses.
