Terry AlscherTerry was one of the ticket takers at our spring dinner.

Ray Arnette

Ray has been helping Bob Hurley in his care of the fish pond.Earlier this month he was one of those who removed all the fish from the pond so that dead foliage could be trimmed and the pond could be cleaned up.

Diane Anderson

Diane is a member of the social committee.She is in charge of our bar. She applies for the liquor licenses and purchases all the stock. She also acts as bartender at most of our pub nights and special events. She helped with set up for our volunteer appreciation and she ordered and served the wine. She was the driving force on the decorating crew for our Canada Day celebration.She also worked on setting up the bar, serving and then putting stock away at the end of the evening. Diane sliced all the onions that were served as a condiment at our Canada Day dinner.She and Nancy Wright put together the dinner that was served at the wind up to our snooker tournament.She served the wine at our newcomers welcome party in September.She decorated the club house for fall and then added more for our Oktoberfest. Took some of those decorations down and then put up the dcor for Halloween. What a month!!

Diane and Rosa headed the decorating crew that got the Chelsea clubhouse ready for Christmas.Diane brought goodies and helped with the preparation and set up for our Christmas coffee.Diane organized both the dinner and dance for New Years. She decorated and set tables and hired the caterers and the band, She decorated for our Shrove Tuesday dinner and for our dinner dance in March, cutting out the silhouettes, wrapping cutlery, setting tables etc.She and Rosa were in charge of decorating for the spring dinner.She also shopped for many of the supplies needed for that dinner.Oh and did I mention she runs the bar? This means shes the one who at the end of the day has to deal with the empty containers and purchase glassware if there has been breakage.

Lloyd AndersonLloyd painted the backdrop for our July 1st murder mystery production.He worked on set up, erecting the stage and building the frame to support the backdrop.He also made signs and decorated the front and side of our real bar for that day.He helped setting up the canopies and then stayed way too long after the event doing tear down and clean up.Lloyd is a member of the crew that maintains and services our sprinkler system.He was one of those who during the drought conditions of the past summer watered shrubs on the common property by hand.Lloyd along with Dave Pritchard has organized our snooker tournaments.He designed a logo for the snooker players and ordered the t-shirts that were then given out to participants.He barbecued sausages for our OktoberfestHe supervised the tear down after that event.

He did the set up for the Halloween at the gate and stayed to give out goodies.He was on the crew who put up Christmas lights outside.Lloyd has done a lot of the heavy lifting that is needed to allow Diane to keep the bar well stocked.Hes helped her serve from time to time.He worked on set up for our New Years party.Hes made the coffee for our Wednesday morning get togethers.Hes delivered newsletters and flyers door to door in the Kensington.He has spent hours taking down, cleaning and replacing ceiling tiles in the clubhouse to save us the expense of buying new ones.Lloyd painted the dolphins that swim in our reflective pond.

Danielle Bastien

Danielle served salads at our Canada Day celebration.She whipped cream for our Shrove Tuesday pancakes.She served vegetables at our spring dinner.

Dale Bauer

Dale barbecued the smokeys for our July 1st dinner. He did set up for our Oktoberfest.He helped put up the outdoor Christmas lights.He did recycling for the second sitting of our spring dinner and then stayed to help with clean up.

Gary Beirns

Gary is the treasurer of our Strata Council.Once a week he attends at CrossroadsManagement and signs cheques.He receives a detailed accounting of the months financial transactions from Crossroads and summarizes those on a spreadsheet. He then presents this summary together with any required explanations to Council.He prepares the annual budget for Chelsea Gardens and this is provided to residents prior to the AGM each year.

Gladys Bittner

Gladys is one of our very busy bartenders. She has served at almost all of our major events and unless she is travelling she works on all the sing-along pub nights too. She helped with setting up the canopies for Canada DayShe regularly brings baking and plays hostess at our Wednesday morning coffee.

Dave Brennan

Dave, once again, was the emcee at our spring dinner. Does he feel type cast? He has filled this position for many years running and does it so well we keep asking him back.He also helped with set up and tear down at our Christmas concert.

Yvonne Brennan

Yvonne played a role in our Canada Day murder mystery.She helped with set up for that event.She sold 50/50 tickets at our Oktoberfest.She directs the Chelsea Singers, and started practising with them in September so they would be ready for their Christmas performance.She ordered music for the choir and arranged for costumes for both singers and the group of nuns who hammed it up on the side.Yvonne sang in the choir at the Christmas Prelude.She was one of the small group that led the singing at our Christmas coffee.In addition to directing the choir, she performed at the Christmas concert.She sold tickets for our Shrove Tuesday dinner, our March dinner dance and our spring dinner.She sold 50/50 tickets at the spring dinner.

Ann Brokop

Ann is a member of the social committee.She planted and cared for the ornamentalcontainers on the pool deck this past summer.She wrapped cutlery for our Oktoberfest and then provided musical entertainment on the evening of the event.She replanted the containers which had been around the deck during the summer and placed them in front of the club house where the pansies provided a show of colour throughout the fall.

She took tickets at our March dinner dance and again at our spring dinner.She made the center pieces for the tables at the spring dinner.Ann regularly contributes baking and plays hostess at our Wednesday morning coffee.

Reinhart Brust

Reinhart doesnt attend pub night but along with Bill Callagan, he sneaks in each Saturday morning to empty the dishwasher and mop the floors.He organized the crew that put up our outdoor Christmas lights.He is a member of two choirs that perform at Christmas. In that capacity he performs at the Christmas Concert and takes an even larger role on at the Christmas Prelude.He led us in grace at our spring dinner.

Arlene BuhlerArlene wrapped cutlery for our Canada Day dinner.She put out buns and put the final touches on the table settings for our spring dinner.

Kay Buckley

Kay played a role in our Canada Day murder mystery.She collected tickets for our dinner that afternoon.Kay is one of the founding members of Chelseas Adopt-a-Street contribution and she has been regularly picking up litter on the streets of our neighbourhood for about twenty years.She and Elaine Scott organize the popular Ladies Lunches each month.Kay collected the dinner tickets for our Canada Day meal and for the Shrove Tuesday dinner.She served vegetables at our spring dinner.She regularly brings baking and plays hostess at our Wednesday morning coffee.

Bea and Bill CallaganBill, along with Reinhart Brust, comes in Saturday mornings to sweep up the pub and empty the dishwasher.He was one of those volunteers that hand watered plants around the clubhouse during our summer drought.The season for that watering job was extended when we put those charming scare crows in with our shrubs and then moved the pots under cover so the decorations wouldnt be ruined by rain.Bea regularly brings goodies and plays hostess at our Wednesday morning coffee.When we had no volunteers to do coffee on the 23rd and 30th of December, Bill took over the job.

Donna Carlaw

Donna was a member of the social committee until she resigned this past December.Before giving effect to her resignation she joined with other committee members baking goodies and setting up for our Christmas coffee.She was on the planning committee for our volunteer appreciation party last year..

She made sandwiches for the guests and did food set up for that event.She then greeted guests and provided them with their name tagsShe was on the planning committee for the Canada Day murder mystery and helped prepare the materials that were provided to the various actorsShe worked behind the scene making sure all actors were accounted for before the murder took place.She had the unexpected and thankless task of distributing and collecting ballots in between the gusts of wind towards the end of that afternoon.She wrapped cutlery for our Oktoberfest.

Gail Carter

Gail sold 50/50 tickets at our Canada Day celebration.She helped prepare buns and finalize the table settings for our spring dinner.She has played hostess and brought baking for our Wednesday morning coffee.She regularly helps cleaning up and loading the dishwasher after pub night.

Bernadette Casavant

Bernadette played the part of Poker Alice in our Canada Day murder mystery.She cleared tables and did recycling for our Oktoberfest.She played a part in the Christmas Prelude skit and brought refreshments for that event.She helped serve at the spring dinner.

Renata Cheetham

Renate is one of our three Adopt-a-Block volunteers and patrols the streets around Chelsea collecting litter on a regular basis.She served desserts and coffee at our spring dinner.

Brian Coates and Veronica ShandlerBrian works as a volunteer on the Adopt a Block program and keeps the streets around Chelsea Gardens clear of litter.During the drought this past summer he was one of those who watered shrubs and trees on the common property so they would not die.He cleared tables and helped with clean up at our dinner/dance in March.He worked on set up for our spring dinner.He and Veronica regularly stay after coffee to put away the tables and chairs.

Dick Davis

Dick, along with Leno Zecchel and Zenon Jalbert, replaced coach lanterns on all the townhouses this past summer.

Lois Degryp

Lois prepared the buns for our Canada Day meal.She did clean up and dishes after our Shrove Tuesday dinner.She served desserts and coffee at the spring dinner.She has brought baking and played hostess at our Wednesday morning coffee.

Joyce Doyle

For many years Joyce has been the driving force behind the Windsors wind up party for our carolers. She organizes this event and makes substantial personal contributions.She played a part in a skit at the Christmas concert.She also brings baking and plays hostess at our regular Wednesday morning coffee.

Adrienne Dresser

Adrienne prepared buns and completed table settings for our spring dinner.

Gary Economy

Gary helped with set up for our Shrove Tuesday dinner and again for our spring dinner.He is also one of those who often pitches in to take down tables and put away chairs at the end of our events.

Meredith Engen

Meredith helped with barbecuing all the smokeys for our Canada Day dinner.She helped with clean up and did dishes after the spring dinner. (150 guestslots of dishes.);She took the soiled dishtowels and aprons home with her and returned them all freshly laundered and ironed.

Maria Forintos

Maria leads the osteo and bands exercise programs any time that Lorraine or Simone is away.During the summer she brings the CD player to the pool and sets it up to guide participants through their aquasize..

Elaine Galley

Elaine is the treasurer of the social committee. She pays our bills and maintains our financial records. She prepares the year end report that is presented at councils AGM.She helped setting out food for our volunteer appreciation.She played a role in our Canada Day murder mystery.She regularly attends the clubhouse the morning after events to assure that the dishwasher has been emptied and that the ice maker is working properly.She sells pub night 50/50 tickets.She assisted with set-up, food service and clean up for our newcomers event.She was in charge of set up for Oktoberfest.She sold tickets for that event.She distributed candy to the children who attended our Halloween at the gate.She organized our Ugly Christmas Sweater contest.

She contributed baking and served coffee at our Christmas coffee.She carried the banner for our carolling.She set up and served the appetizers and desserts guest brought to the Christmas concert.She cooked potatoes and helped serve breakfast at our polar bear swim.Elaine organized our dinner/dance in March. She hired the DJ,She purchased food, organized the kitchen and supervised the moving of furniture.She supervised set up for our spring dinner and also cooked all the green beans and supervised the kitchen on the second sitting.She regularly takes her turn acting as hostess and bringing baking for our Wednesday morning coffee.She delivers newsletters and flyers.

Ann and Will organized the delivery of the hay bales and the use of the flat deck for our Christmas caroling.

Carol GreenidgeCarol is a member of the social committee.She helped plating food and doing clean-up for our volunteer appreciation party last year.She helped with set up and did advanced food preparation for our Canada Day dinner.She assisted with set up, food service and clean up for our newcomers event.She prepared desserts for our Oktoberfest.She contributed baking for our Christmas coffee and helped set up for that event, and clean up at the end.

She prepared the salad for the March dinner/dance.She cooked potatoes for the spring dinner and also stayed after the dinner to help with clean up.She is on the committee that is currently planning this years Canada Day celebration.She has done 50/50 at pub night.

Barbara Gregg

Barb is a member of the social committee.When our treasurer, Elaine Galley, is away on holiday, Barb takes over for her.She set up the screen and projector for the slide show on our last volunteer appreciation day.She helped with serving and clean up after that event.She took portrait type photos of all of our newcomers.She took pictures at our Oktoberfest.She took pictures at our New Years Eve party and again at the polar bear swim the following morning.She made all the fruit toppings for our Shrove Tuesday pancake breakfast.She acted as our photographer for that event and also for our spring dinner.Barb organizes the Chelsea Walkers group that meets 6 days a week and she registers this team in the Sun Run. Barb does 50/50 at our pub nights.She sells tickets for events.She regularly plays hostess and brings baking for our Wednesday coffee.

Kathy Greschner

Kathy served pancakes at our Shrove Tuesday dinner.Along with Ken Thorburn she served salads for both sittings of our spring dinner.There was a lull between the sittings so she used that time to help us clear tables.

Madan and Roopa Gupta

Madan takes a turn making coffee for a month at a time for our Wednesday morning gathering.Roopa regularly brings goodies and plays hostess.She tells us that Madan sometimes help with the behind the scene preparations.

Dorie Hadders

Dorie performed in the Canada Day murder mystery.She did recycling at our Oktoberfest dinner.She played a part in the Christmas Prelude.She washed dishes for 150 people after our spring dinner.

Bruce and Gerry Helmer

Bruce is our sound man and managed the microphone volumes and mixes for our big July 1st celebration. Both he and Gerry played roles in our Canada Day murder mystery.They worked on set up the morning of July 1st.Gerry is a member of the Chelsea Singers Choir and has assisted that group by helping Yvonne record the alto and soprano parts and leading the altos during the practises.Bruce attended the newcomers event and explained the operation the work shop.Bruce did the sound mix for our Christmas concert. He helped with set up for that event.Gerry sold 50/50 tickets at our spring dinner.

Chester Hendrickson

Chester helped with stage set up for our Canada Day celebration and our Christmas concert.At the concert he looked after props for the skits.He is one of the Chelsea Singers and in that capacity he performed at the Christmas concert.Chester picked up the flat deck and hay that we used for our hay wagon when we went caroling at Christmas.He towed that trailer and led the procession.

Jerry HorneJerry looks after our woodworking shop and gives an orientation for new users.He looks after getting tools and machinery repaired or replaced if that becomes necessary.He helped Patti make sandwiches for our volunteer appreciation party.He hung the group picture we took at that event.He did a presentation on the workshop for our newcomers.He picked up food for our Canada Day meal.He carved several pork loins for our spring dinner.He helped with the clean up of the fish pond earlier this month.

Pearl Hurd

Pearl regularly brings goodies and plays hostess at our Wednesday morning coffee.

Bob HurleyBob serves on the Strata Council.He responds to issues related to the Windsor apartments and is the liaison to the social committee.Bob moved furniture and covered windows in the Fireside Lounge in preparation for out volunteer appreciation party last year.He helped with the tear down too.He picked up extra tables for our Canada Day party the night before and then returned them after the festivities.He worked on setting up the stage and canopies that morning.After the meal he and wife, Kathy, collected and sorted the recycling.He did set up for Oktoberfest.He looks after the koi pond.He works on the irrigation team that keeps our complex sprinkler system up and running.During the drought last summer he was one of those who hand watered the shrubs in front of the Windsor apartments.

Kathy HurleyKathy was one of last years volunteers who stayed behind after our volunteer appreciation event to put away furniture and clean up.She sorted the recycling after our Canada Day dinner.

Bernice Hutton

Bernice is the chair of our Strata Council.She sets the agenda and calls the meetings to order.In addition to chairing the council meetings which take place at least once a month and last 3-4 hours, she regularly meets with Ross Ruddick and staff about matters of concern to residents.She, along with Gary Beirns and Garry Kirkland, attend a weekly meeting with Crossroads Management.She helped organize and prepared food for the meal that followed last summers golf tournament.

Bob Hyde

Bob started our Canada Day celebrations off by making a run to pick up a load of extra tables we had been lent.When the rest of us were heading home, he was making the trip to return those tables.During the day he abandoned his role as a mover and played a part in our murder mystery.He has helped with tear down and clean up after many of our events.Bob video recorded both out Christmas Prelude and the Christmas Concert. He edited and burned DVDs and provided them to Gerry Helmer who made the copies which were then available to residents.Working behind the scenes he spent a lot of time getting the CDs that had been donated for our karaoke sessions organized and preparing index sheets for them.When, on a couple of occasions some of our musicians were unavailable for our pub night sing-along, Bob helped set up a Karaoke evening.

Terry HydeTerry is the chair of the Chelsea Gardens Social Committee. She sets the agendas and chairs the meetings.She meets with council representatives as required to assure smooth running of our many cooperative endeavours.She worked on the set up for last years volunteer appreciation event and helped assemble and arrange the food platters.She ordered our murder mystery for Canada Day and was involved in planning that entertainment portion of that event.She helped with set up that morning.During our off season over the summer she and Patti spent hours tidying and reorganizing cupboards.She worked on the set up, service and clean up for our newcomers event.

More about Terry:She oversaw the clean up after our Oktoberfest.She helped with Halloween at the gate and made soup for all the volunteers that evening.She brought baking and supervised the set up for our Christmas coffee.She organized the carolling.She has sold tickets for many of the events.She organized the breakfast after the polar bear swim.And planned our Shrove Tuesday dinner.She was involved in organizing and food purchasing for our dinner dance in March.She was on the planning committee for the spring dinner. She cooked scalloped potatoes for that meal.Terry proof reads and delivers the newsletter.

Margy Jalbert

Margy was one of the dancing girls in our Canada Day murder mystery.She helped serve at Oktoberfest.She joined the social committee in February and has pitched in in a major way since then.She was on the organizing committee for the spring dinner and cooked a couple of the pork loins for that event.She delivered flyers.She served coffee and desserts to guests at the first sitting that evening.She also was on the committee that organized this volunteer appreciation tea.

Zenon Jalbert

This spring, Zenon was asked to fill in as a council member, replacing Rick Vale who had moved away.This appointment was confirmed when he was elected to fill the position at our AGM last week.Zenon played a role in our Canada Day murder mystery last year.He helped with the set up that day and stayed to put canopies and tables away at the end of the day.He was one of the volunteers who put new coach lamps on all of the townhouses this past summer.He worked on set up for our Oktoberfest.He helped put up the outside Christmas lights.He has worked on the sprinkler crew.He served desserts and coffee at our spring dinner

Lorraine Job

Lorraine has brought baking and played hostess at our Wednesday morning coffee.

Barry Jones

Barry helped with set up for our Canada Day celebration.He played a role in our murder mystery that day.He helped with set-up, food service and clean up for the newcomers event.He helped put up Christmas lights.He scrambled eggs for the breakfast following the polar bear swim.He sold 50/50 tickets at our March dinner dance.He picked up food from the suppliers and stood guard over Carolyns cooking for our spring dinner.Barry is also one of those who regularly pitches in to put take down tables and put away chairs at the end of events.

Garry Kirkland

Garry is a member of the Strata Council.He has assumed responsibility for the maintenance matters relating to the townhouses.He also monitors and provides direction with respect to landscaping.He, Gary Beirns and Bernice Hutton meet with Crossroads Management on a weekly basis.He was one of the organizers for the golf tournament.He was busy at the barbecue doing the steaks after that event last summer.

Mike KiveragoOver the past year, Mike and Phil Smith have continued repairing and replacing the lattice work dividers between the townhouses.

Carole LazarCarole is the secretary of the social committee.She also acts as volunteer coordinator.(aka telephone solicitor)She is the editor of the newsletter.She arranges to have all the photos from our events developed and uploaded to the Internet.

She was the emcee for last years volunteer appreciation party.She worked on set up, decorations and food preparation.She prepared a slide presentation for that event and later uploaded it so that it could be accessed on the Internet.She was one of the organizers for our Canada Day murder mysteryShe served as emcee for that event.She prepared hand outs for the newcomers welcome listing all the Chelsea volunteer and social activities together with contact numbers.She did recycling for the Oktoberfest.She did posters and set out collection boxes for Halloween.

More on Carole:She baked and helped with the Christmas coffee.She collected our food contributions over the Christmas season and delivered them to the Surrey Food Bank.She blew up balloons for New Years.She cooked potatoes, served and did clean up for the polar bear swim. She did recycling for Shrove Tuesday.She took photos at the March dinner/dance.She did recycling and helped with clean up at the spring dinner.

She does the social committees monthly events calendars.She does the pub night posters and orders and distributes the special events posters.She maintains the photo albums of our events.She delivers newsletters.She recruits volunteers to act as hostess at our Wednesday morning coffee and takes her turns doing that herself.

Dan LazarDans biggest volunteer contribution is that he does all the grocery shopping and cooking so Carole can spend hours doing vague and mysterious social committee things on the computer.He also counted and divided the 50/50 pot from the second sitting of the spring dinner. This allowed those who sold the tickets to go and eat.

Tim Major

Tim is a member of the social committee.He was in charge of making the pancakes for our Shrove Tuesday dinner. He recruited a couple of his fellow Lions Club members to help him and the three of them provided well for the hungry crowd.Tim helped with set up for our March dinner dance.

Saroj ManhasSaroj prepared buns for our Canada Day dinner.She also served dessert at that eventShe helped with serving at our polar bear swim breakfast.She cooked sausages for the Shrove Tuesday dinner.She has sold 50/50 tickets on our regular pub nights.She regularly takes her turn playing hostess and providing goodies for our Wednesday morning coffee.She also acts as back up at coffee, filling in if another hostess is unable to make it for a scheduled commitment.

Clare helped with the serving at our Canada Day dinner.She regularly brings baking and plays hostess at our Wednesday morning coffee.She served apple sauce at out spring dinner.

Pat McKenna

Wed heard that Pat sometimes pitched in to help sell 50/50 tickets on our regular pub nights.

So when we needed someone for the job at our Shrove Tuesday dinner, we asked her and she said, yes.

Don McKenzieDon played a role in our Canada Day murder mystery though his involvement was cut short when he was shot.He made up for this by working overtime during the Christmas season. He played Santa at our Christmas coffee.Santa also made the rounds on our caroling night making sure no one was left out. He played the part of a frustrated tourist in a skit for our Christmas concert.He played the part of a bus boy at our spring dinner, clearing tables, serving dessert and coffee and then stayed to move furniture at the end of the evening.

Maureen McKenzie

Maureen played the part of a saloon girl in our Canada Day murder mystery.She started the coffee and put out the fixings for it at our March dinner danceShe cleared tables and served coffee and desserts at our spring dinner.

Barry Miller

Barry is one of the most dedicated members of our irrigation crew and works tirelessly keeping our sprinkler system in working order.He is a member of the workshop committee.Barry, along with his wife Dawn and other members of the Bible study group, host our annual Christmas Prelude. They provide entertainment, a message and a wonderful spread of food.Barry takes his turn making coffee for our Wednesday morning coffee.

He also pitches in and brings baking and plays host from time to time.He did recycling for our Oktoberfest dinner.He served up pork loin for the second sitting of our spring dinner.He designed and installed the new water feature in our reflection pond.

Dawn Miller

Dawn, along with husband, Barry and the rest of the Bible study group organized and planned the Christmas Prelude. Dawn acted as emcee and directed the choir.Dawn also sang with the Chelsea Singers choir at our Christmas concert.She and Barry did the recycling for our Oktoberfest dinner.She served at our spring dinner.Dawn regularly brings baking and plays hostess at our Wednesday morning coffee.

Dot was one of the Windsor hostesses who baked goodies and greeted the Christmas carolers at the end of their rounds.

Barbara served sauerkraut at our Oktoberfest.

Kay Oldman

Kay organizes our Wednesday morning coffee. She buys and stores the supplies, posts the list of volunteers and makes reminder calls.She also gives lessons to new volunteers.She set up the coffee for our dinner/dance in March.

Marty Olsen

Marty helped with the set up for Canada Day.He played the part of the marshal in our murder mystery.He set up the coffee and tea for both sittings of the spring dinner.

Joe and Sylvia Otrowercha

Once again this year, Sylvia cooked all the carrots for our spring dinner to a perfect state of tender crispness. Its a big job, so Joe pitches in to help.Sylvia also plays hostess and makes goodies for coffee on a regular basis.

Agnes OSullivan

Agnes is a member of the social committee.She helped serve and clean up for our volunteer appreciation party.On Canada Day she worked behind the scenes counting ballotsShe and Ann Brokop did the planters for our pool deck.They revitalized those with plants to add colour in front of the clubhouse over the fall.She served weisswurst at our Oktoberfest.She helped organize the appetizers and desserts guests brought to the Christmas concert.She baked cookies for the Shrove Tuesday dinner.She quartered the chickens we served at the March dinner dance.

She was on the planning committee for the spring dinner and cooked and carved pork loins for that event.

Bill OSulivan

Bill helped with tear down and clean up after our Canada Day event.He has recently been recruited to work on the sprinkler crew.He helped with set up for our Oktoberfest.

Barbara Parker

Barbara served chicken at our March dinner/dance.She served dessert and coffee at the spring dinner and then stayed to help with the recycling and clean up.

Ron Plankeel

Ron isnt a Chelsea owner yet but even as a visitor hes made his presence felt.He served sausages at the pancake breakfast after the polar bear swim.He helped with set up at our March dinner dance and again at our spring dinner.For the spring dinner he picked up dessert for us.He helped deliver flyers.

Dave PritchardHe is one of those who organized and led our popular Christmas concert.He performed at that himself but also provided accompaniment for many others. He attended practises for the choir and for those who were going to sing either alone or as part of a small group and then he played back up for them at the concert itself.He provided accompaniment for the Christmas Prelude and attended practises for that.He led the caroling both when we did the rounds with the hay wagon and during our Christmas coffee.

Though hes never been given a title, Dave is the music organizer for virtually all of Chelseas events.He is the one who has taken on the responsibility for the proper maintenance and storage of our sound equipment. It is he who advises us when new or replacement items are necessary.He is involved in setting up and tearing down for each event where we have music.He plays keyboard and saxophone and sings too.He and Al Rozek lead the monthly pub night sing-alongs.

More about Dave:On Canada Day, Dave played a role in our murder mystery.Later in the day he came to our rescue when the wind was blowing ballots all around and tempers were fraying. He made the rounds collecting votes and making soothing noises.Dave, along with Lloyd, organizes and keep score for those involved in our snooker tournaments.He organized and led hymn sings in both the spring and fall.He ran a couple of karaoke nights for us.He was one of the bridge players who hosted a wine and cheese party in February for any residents who might be interested in playing bridge.

As part of that outreach, lessons were offered. Dave organized and taught those on a weekly basis throughout the months of March and April.I dont know if he has told the new players that one of the tasks the Tuesday night bridge group regularly undertakes is setting for our Wednesday morning coffee.

Lois Pritchard

Lois played a role in our Canada Day murder mystery.She is in charge of the displays on the social committees bulletin board in the clubhouse. She makes up all the headers and puts up the frequently changing photo collections.She is one of the organizers for the Christmas concert and wrote and directed a skit for that. She did a reading on her own too.She participated in the Christmas Prelude.She was one of those who organized and put on the two hymn sings we had this year.After playing bridge on Tuesday nights she helps with set up for Wednesday morning coffee.She regularly brings baking and plays hostess at coffee..

Marlene Purdy

Marlene played the part of the outlaw Jesse Wales in our Canada Day murder mystery.She is a member of the Chelsea Singers and performed in the choir at the Christmas concert.She then had to do a quick change to prepare for her second role of the day in the humorous skit.She often stays behind on pub night to clean up and load the dishwasher.She whipped butter for our ShroveTuesday dinner.

Anna Razny

Anna helped with set up and service for our volunteer appreciation party last year.She assembled smokeys and buns for our Canada Day dinner.She delivers newsletters in the Mayfair.Anna stayed after our Oktoberfest to help with clean up. She collected the Halloween treats from the Mayfair and delivered them to the clubhouse for pick up.She decorated the Christmas tree for the Mayfair.She contributed baking and helped with set up and clean up at the Christmas coffee.She served the pasta salad at our March dinner and dance.Anna captured fish and placed them in holding containers so the fish pond could be cleaned this past month.

Al Rozek

Al, or Mr. Music, as we sometimes call him, plays guitar and leads the singing at our monthly pub night sing-along. Along with Ann Brokop, he played the part of a roaming minstrel and provided dinner accompaniment at our Oktoberfest.He led the caroling at our Christmas coffee.He is one of the organizers for the Christmas concert and acted as emcee for that event. He came out to practises for the choir to help them prepare for the concert.He practised with singers and instrumental groups and performed almost non stop throughout the concert.Al, along with Dave Pritchard, leads the carolers when they make the rounds of Chelsea Gardens the Monday before Christmas.He performed at the two hymn sings.When Al is performing at an event, he does his own set up and tear down.Amplifiers, microphones, the stage itself and various props all have to be dealt with.

Kathy sold 50/50 tickets at our Oktoberfest dinner.She helped with the planning of the Christmas concert.She played clarinet and piano at that event, sang an unusually silent Silent Night and also put on a nuns habit to provide a dramatic accompaniment for the Sister Act.She performed at our two hymn sing afternoons.She regularly takes a turn bringing baking and playing hostess at our Wednesday morning coffee.

Elaine sold 50/50 tickets for our Canada Day celebration.She is one the Tuesday night bridge players who stays after to help set out the tables and chairs for our Wednesday morning coffee.

Patti is the co-chair of the social committee.She was one of the organizers for last years volunteer appreciation event. She made sandwiches, set up the non-alcoholic beverages, served and helped with clean up..She was also on the planning committee for our July 1st party. She ordered the food, made the beans and supervised volunteers who were involved in last minute preparation and serving.She was involved in set up, food service and clean up for our newcomers event.She was on the planning committee for the Oktoberfest and then supervised the food service.She also set up coffee for that event.She contributed baking to our Christmas coffee and helped with set up, organization and clean up.She arranged service of the food donations guests made at our Christmas concert. Again she made the coffee.

Carell is one of the Chelsea Singers and performed at the Christmas concert.She also served vegetables at the first sitting of our spring dinner.

Phil Smith

.Phil and Mike Kiverago have been repairing or replacing the latticework dividers on the townhouses doing a batch each year.He worked on our irrigation crew this past summer.Phil performed during our Christmas concert and regularly provides accompaniment at our pub night sing-alongs.He helped put up the outdoor Christmas lighting.

Rosa SteinbronnRosa is a member of the social committee.She helped with decorating and setting up for our volunteer appreciation event.She served and stayed to clean up after it.She was on the food planning committee for Canada Day.She did snack trays and along with Evelyn Bailie, made the salad.She also helped with setting tables and putting up decorations for our Canada Day event.She stayed till the end to help with clean up.Rosa assisted with set-up, food service and clean-upfor our newcomers welcome.She DID the Oktoberfest. She organized it.

She did the cooking, she ordered the food, she decorated.If we hadnt tied her down she would have cleaned up too.Rosa helped organize the Halloween decorations in the clubhouse. She and Diane then decorated for Remembrance Day.

Charlie serves on our strata council.He is in charge of security issues.He is on the irrigation crew that fixes our sprinklers and makes seasonal preparations.He moved furniture and covered windows in the Fireside Lounge so it would be ready for our volunteer appreciation party last year. He stayed to put the furniture back at the end ofthe afternoon.Charlie helped put up the stage and the canopies for our Canada Day celebration.He played a role in our murder mystery.He watered plants in front of the Windsor during our summer drought.He delivers newsletters.He did set up for Oktoberfest.He collected Halloween goodies and the Christmas food bank donations from the Windsor and delivered them to the clubhouse.He did set up for our March dinner dance.He served at our spring dinner.

Ken ThorburnKen is a member of our sprinkler crew and devotes hours each year to repairing sprinkler heads and assuring that the system is working properly.During the drought conditions this summer he hand watered the trees and shrubs on the west side of the clubhouse.He helped set up canopies and tables for our Canada Day celebration.He played a role in our murder mystery.Ken served desserts at our Oktoberfest. He also acted as a runner carrying additional batches for food from the kitchen to the serving station in the entrance area.Ken served the salads at both sittings of the spring dinner.He stayed afterwards to assist with putting the tables and chairs away and returning the regular furniture.

Bill TroughtonBill is one of the volunteers that looks after maintaining and repairing our sprinkler system.He helped put up the stage and the canopies for our Canada Day event and then stayed to take them down and put them away at the end of the evening.He did set up for Oktoberfest.He put up Christmas lights outside the clubhouse and down our main boulevard.

Art Trudeau

Art is a member of the irrigation crew and helps keep our 1,600 odd head sprinkler system up and running.During the drought conditions this past summer when we were not allowed to use that system, he hand watered the shrubs in the boulevard in front of the Windsor apartments.He helped set up the canopies for our July 1st celebrations.He helped clean up the koi pond this spring.

Larry and Shirley Villeneuve

Larry and Shirley have been here less than a year but Larry has already been recruited to work on the irrigation crew.Last summer he helped Wade repair the pump for our waterfall.Shirley was out a few weeks ago netting goldfish and koi and placing them in containers so they could wait safely while the fish pond was cleaned.

Lucie Walker

Lucie is one of our hard working bar tenders. She serves in that capacity for most of our special events as well as at our monthly sing-along nights..She was one of the hostesses who planned for and served at the reception the Windsor residents gave for our Christmas carolers.Lucie along with Simone Tait, sends out cards on behalf of all residents to any of our neighbours if they are seriously ill or have suffered a lossShe regularly plays hostess and brings goodies for our Wednesday morning coffee.

Gordon is a member of our strata council.Along with Garry Kirkland, he deals with any concerns relating to the Mayfair or the Kensington.He is on the committee that manages the RV parking lot.He helped clean up and put away tables and chairs after last years volunteer appreciation party. He helped with both set up and tear down for our Canada Day event.I have also seen him putting away tables and chairs after events where he had not been scheduled to work!
