Yard Landscaping Tips for Beginners
By Jonathan Nadler

As summer approaches, enthusiastic landscapers can be found planting, pruning, paving, and watering their yards. If you have a garden space to develop, you’ll need to take into consideration the yard size, your skills, maintenance requirements, and your budget when deciding on design.
Introduction
Observe the patterns of weather, shade, and sunlight, both at different times of day and during different seasons; this will help you decide which plants will flourish in the space you have. If there are utilities on-site that may interfere with your gardening plans, work around them: these include underground electrical or water supplies, septic lines, piping, and easements.
Tips
You may decide to pave a path to your house entrances using brick, concrete, or stone, or alternatively, you could lay gravel, rocks, bark, or mulch. When choosing flowers and plants, pay attention to color choices; these will influence depth and space perception. Finally, consider how your plants will grow, and avoid crowding your garden with too many elements that may create a cluttered appearance down the track.
