EFFECTIVE MARKETING IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY
Laws and regulations limit the methods of marketing in the industry. This presentation will cover tips to effectively
market cannabis, from compliant packaging to social media techniques and more. The focus here is to provide the
end user with the best experience possible in order to gain the customer as a life long client.
JOHN M. RAMSAY
User Experience (UX) refers to the planning and control of the totality of a customer’s experience with your brand, product or
service. This is far more than just how it looks but moreover a focus on ease of use, clean design, actual experience and outcomes.
This is a focus on eliminating anything that takes away from the successful sale of or use of your products/services and rather allows
for you to ensure the best outcome for your customers or clients to be able to procure such services or products.
USER EXERIENCE OPTIMIZATION
WEBUX There's no point in trying to increase your search engine
results with the goal of increased traffic to your website if,
when visitors arrive at your site, they are uninterested,
uninformed or unmotivated.
Eliminate wasted steps to ensure a more smooth experience
for the end user, this will help them make a buying decision
faster and give them the piece of mind to do so without
having to search for the information they are looking for.
LOCATION UX
We have the control of the user experience from when the
customer/client arrives at our locations to when they leave.
These customers expect that when they show up, we will
properly showcase the products to help them make a buying
decision.
Ensure lines are not long and customers can still shop while
they wait. Provide a clean environment free from distractions
that is inviting and makes people want to come back again.
Making this experience as easy and enjoyable for them as
possible will lead to more visits in the future.
STAFF UX
Your team is an illustration of you. Make sure they are well
trained and well equipped to answer the many questions of
this ever growing market that we cater to. Customers are a
wide variety of consumers that either have a tremendous
amount of experience and have done much research to that of
a recreational first time user that requires much more support
and has no idea of how to use cannabis products.
PRODUCT UX
Take the extra steps necessary to package your product(s)
commercially. This helps the consumer to not only trust the
brand but what they are consuming. Clear packaging with all
of the necessary compliant information leads to consumers
happy about their product purchase(s).
Great product packaging design also leads to social sharing as
well as a great word of mouth marketing effort that tends to
add credibility to your brand or product.
SOCIAL MEDIAUXSocial Media has near replaced commercials on television with
the new generation of social and mobile users. In order to
ensure you get the best ROI for time/budget spent on social
media you have to ensure you are controlling the user’s
experience and expectations. Professional photography is key
in order to separate yourself from your competition.
PROFESSIONALPHOTOGRAPHYThe use of professional photography lets people see the
true beauty and detail of the amazing products, services
and locations we offer to consumers. Not only will this
make your print advertising better but it will also lead to
more brand recognition and visibility.
PACKAGING
The days of throwing stickers on products and calling it a day are over. Cannabis Consumers demand a great experience. They
take great joy in a fully developed product line and love to participate with brands on social media through sharing
experiences and phenomenal photos of well designed products on their own social media feeds.
MERCHANDISE
Design your merchandise for more than just to advertise your brand. Consumers are smart and know when they are just being
asked to be a walking commercial. Your merchandise should challenge that of any commercial fashion or lifestyle brand.
CUSTOM INTEGRATIONS Take extra steps to give your visitors and customers ways they
can interact with your brand. Some ways you can accomplish
this are:
• Custom Interactive Menus
• Customer Loyalty and Reward Programs
• Events
• Contests
• Giveaways
• Social Media
MOBILEFRIENDL
YMore than 50% of website visitors and
users are coming to your site on their
mobile phone. Is your website presenting
well on all mobile devices?
