2. Advertising is a form of communication used to persuade an audience ( viewer, reader or listener) to take some action with respect to products, ideas or services . 3. To a certain extent advertising has both positive and negative effects on society.Advertisements promote prosperity and also is propaganda. 5. PUBLIC SERVICE ADVERTISEMENTS : Public service advertisements are often the first things considered when people discuss the positives of advertisements. Many public service announcements run messages about health, safety and national security through ads. 6. SOCIAL BENEFITS : Awareness Education Employment Culture Economy 7. ECONOMIC BENEFITS: According to the International Advertising Association, advertising can encourage companies to compete and provide new products. This encourages more consumers to buy because these products meet their needs and wants. 8. CHOICE:In addition encouraging the consumer for choosing the best products , advertising, at least in democratic nations, allows individuals to learn about political choices available to them. 9. HIDDEN COSTS We know that advertising costs lots of money and that money comes from our pockets - the consumer. When we buy a product, we not only pay for the product itself, but for its advertising as well. 10. LYING TO CUSTOMERS: Company can exaggerate certain features of their products or they can make vague and ambiguous claims that sound good.Of course any negative features of the product wont be mentioned. 11. CENSORSHIP Advertisers want their ads shown on certain stations or websites that have certain content, because they want to attract a certain audience.This leaves a negative impact on children and youth. 12. DEGRADATION OF ART The last negative effect of advertising is the complete degradation of some forms of art. Everything you see or hear on TV is now meant to be sold to you. Actors present you new products you should buy.Models look more beautiful and younger with new makeup that you should guess WHAT to buy. 13. It can be concluded that advertisers lost their compass long time ago. Money from consumers pockets, who are attracted to shiny goods, keeps them breathing. Next time you go shopping, or see an advertisement, ask yourself if you really need that product And does it really costs its worth.
