The picture clearly takes up a higher percentage of the poster than the text but the title of the film, which is in yellow contrasting with the blue background, overlaps about a third of the image. The selling line of the film is at the bottom of the poster in white, slightly larger than the yellow text underneath advertising the date of release. The main characters are positioned centrally, brightly coloured with warm tones whereas the secondary character, the villain, is to the right of the poster, in the background in a darker blue light surrounded by fog to emphasize the contrast in characteristics. The setting of the film is also made clear by discretely inserting the Big Ben clock behind the main characters to the left.

The main aspects of the picture from the film are positioned in the center but nearer the top of the poster rather than taking up the entirety as the images fade out as they get closer to the edge. The title of the film is almost as large as the main character who is portrayed as a silhouette with his dog companion and stands out as it is yellow which contrast with the darker blue/black of the faded globe clearly symbolizing an adventure film. The producers of the film are positioned at the top of the poster whereas other important members of the company are positioned at the bottom; their names are less recognizable so less important.

The scene from the film takes up the entire poster and clearly sets the scene for the movie. The main characters are central and express signs of comedic value also made clear by the choice of actor and actress who are significantly mentioned at the top of the poster in red text but small to not detract from the title of the film. The title of the film is smaller than the main characters but is still large enough to display importance and having used 3 different colours to stand out on the sandy background makes it more memorable. The date of release is slightly smaller than the text of the actor/actress’ name but in a different colour to the billing block and larger to highlight the need for this text.

There are numerous images that create the background of the poster highlighting the idea of ‘(500)’ that is partial to the title. The idea of ‘Summer’ is also highlighted by the yellow sun that surrounds the title of the film that is the largest text on the poster; the largest feature in fact. The main character is sat at the bottom right of the poster, proportionally smaller than the title but coloured very differently to the blue, pale scheme; he’s dressed in black and grey. The selling line is also at the bottom of the poster in blue and a different font. The same font is used to present the actors and actresses names showing their relationship to the story line. The release date is in yellow and the same font as the selling line to make it stand out.

There central image of the poster includes the presumed main characters and the genre of horror is emphasized due to the facial expressions on the woman and man; the man being aggressive and scary and the woman showing signs of fear and defense as she holds a knife. The central image also stands out the most on the poster due to the fact it is in colour whereas the remaining features are in black and white. The image is the largest feature of the poster. The main colour of the poster is white but there is a strip of black at the top of the poster which presents the selling line in white and is quick for the audience to see giving immediate marketing. The title of the film is the largest text on the poster and is in black under the main image in a droopy, common, horror styled font. This is equally as large as the selling line strip showing it’s equal importance but the title isn’t highlighted.Underneath the title is the billing block with the main member of the production company in the center of his own line.

The majority of the poster is black highlighting the idea of darkness which is in connection with the genre of horror. The idea of darkness is also made clear through the torch like lighting on the upper half of the females face which takes up around a 1/3rd of the poster. The expression on the girls face comes across as quite fearful but there is a hint of mystery and uncertainty due to the hidden half of her face. The setting is clear with the upper quarter of the poster being black trees with dim light piercing through. The poster includes a synopsis of the film which is in addition a selling line for the film as it is left on a cliffhanger and comes across as curious to the audience. The text is a lot smaller than the title of the film which is displayed at the bottom of the poster in a creepy font similar to the idea of witch fingers which is relevant to the title. The text is all in white. The website for the film is emphasized in red even though it is very small text. Including a website page link would improve marketing and audience numbers.
