#1Your Twitter profile photo is more important than you think. So stop looking like an egg. Change Twitter’s default profile picture immediately after creating your account.

#2Your Twitter bio is your chance to let your target audience know you. Make it as descriptive as possible without becoming long-winded or boastful. Give them a reason to follow you.

#3Make sure you tweet everyday. As your followers grow in number schedule your tweets around the clock, since people will be active on Twitter at different times of day.

#4Tweet consistently. Keep in mind that no one likes to follow an account with no focus. So keep your tweets restricted to a particular topic/set of topics.

#5Follow the friends and followers of the influencers in the area that you tweet about. This will get people to know about you, since they will be notified by email and Twitter activity feeds. There is a good chance that they will follow you back.

#6Clean up your account on a regular basis, un-follow folks who have not been active on Twitter for a couple of months. This will ensure that you do not follow dormant accounts, increasing chances of interaction.
