How important do you think it is to Celebrate Success in organizations?

Each night before my children go to bed I ask them what their success of the day is. The idea came from a story I read about the Olympic gymnast, Bart

Connor. Turns out 9 months before the 1984 Olympics he tore his bicep muscle. They said he would never make it back in time to compete in the

Olympics. But not only did he make it back, he won two gold medals.

When Charlie Jones, the television broadcaster, was interviewing him, he asked Bart how he did it. Bart thanked his parents. Charlie Jones said,

“Come on Bart, everyone thanks their parents when they win a gold medal."

Bart told Charlie that this was different. He said, “Every night before bed my parents would ask me what my success was. So I went to bed a success

every night of my life. I woke up every morning a success. When I was injured before the Olympics, I knew I was going to make it back because I

was a success every day of my life.” Talk about a confidence booster.

Since engaging in this practice with my children I can attest it works. I also know it works because I share this story in my keynotes and hear great

stories from people all the time who are doing this with their children.

I also know it works for people in businesses, schools, and organizations because when we focus on what people are doing right, they do more things right. It’s the simple, powerful message in the classic book The One Minute

Manager and it’s an important part of the work I do with my organization.

Teams and organizations that focus on and celebrate success create more success. Success becomes ingrained in the culture and people naturally look

for it, focus on it and expect it. That’s why certain cricket coaches and

business leaders are always successful. They implement systems and principles that create a culture that celebrates and expects success and this drives behavior and habits that create successful outcomes.

Give your ideas of putting success into practice in business organizations?

The ideas are endless but here are few: If you are in sales have a sales meeting each week, in person or on phone and share success stories. If you

are in management recognize people and their success throughout the year. Not just during annual meetings. Celebrate the small wins as much as the

big wins. Celebrate successful projects and implementations. As a leader you’ll want to praise people and reinforce successes that shine a spotlight on important goals and growth initiatives. For your own personal growth, keep a daily and weekly success journal. Write down your success of the day. Do

this for 30 days and you’ll see amazing results. What we focus on shows up more in our life. If we look for and celebrate success we’ll see more of it. It works for Olympic athletes, children and us.

Can you talk of a "Positive Success Formula" for the Poultry Industry that has witnessed more recessional challenges than many other sectors?

“You have more control and influence than you think you do.” These were the words of an economist as he talked about the economy, the realty market and what he described as an inevitable recession.

He reminded his audience that a lot of people make a lot of money during recessions. He stressed that these are the times when successful companies and successful people gain market share. He shouted when he told the group to look for buying opportunities over the next three years because

there will be many.

In essence he was saying not to let the economy dictate your situation and success. Rather change your belief system and focus on opportunities instead of challenges.

Reminds me of the Positive Success Formula I read about in The Energy Bus.

E + P = O

Page 4: Miles to Go before I Sleep

We can’t control the events (E) in our life. We can’t control the socio-economic factors of a nation. We can’t control the regulatory environment in

the country. We can’t control the actions of other competitors. But we can control our positive energy and our positive actions (P) to these events and

challenges and in turn this will determine the outcome (O).

We have more control than we think we do. Our positive energy, our belief

system, our attitude, our actions have a huge impact on the life we live and the success we enjoy.

You can listen to negative thought-builders and believe that success is impossible or you can change your belief and know that with God and an optimistic attitude all things are possible. Instead of focusing on what they

say you can’t do, focus on what you can do. Instead of riding on the complain train choose to get on "The Energy Bus" and create more success and enjoy the ride.

I’m not saying it will be easy. We will certainly be tested on our journey. I’m

an optimist but also a realist. These are challenging times. We may lose business. We may experience financial difficulties. We may not sell our

produce/chickens as quickly as we want to or not at lucrative prices. We may have to start a new business or venture. We may have set backs. But if

we apply the Positive Success Formula to our life I guarantee we will have a big say and influence in the outcomes.

Instead of letting the world create us we will have a significant role in creating our world!

How do you see Innovista Consulting growing in the coming 5 years?

Today I see my entrepreneurial career quite interesting and motivating. I

can see many challenges lying ahead of me, which I am eager to experience.

With the upcoming changes in the regulatory environment in India in the coming days, we are gearing up to build up our products and service portfolio to suit the new-age industry. We want to be reckoned as a well managed professional company with high standards of functional and quality

attributes. We aspire to cross boundaries and expand into newer markets. For our medium and long term goals we aspire to be a part of the transition of the animal nutrition industry globally. We aim to be top of the mind brand in the markets that we operate.
