Mobile searches have surpassed desktop searches! How to deal with this as an
affiliate
Considering the evolution of mobile in recent years, the best affiliate marketing sites have to be fully
mobile friendly. Recent news in the industry made it apparent that “more Google searches take place on
mobile devices than on computers in 10 countries, including the United States and Japan.” Keep this in
mind when you rethink and adapt your strategy to meet the demands of the viewers.
Mobile over everything
Google made a huge change in its search algorithm this year, to meet the preferences of the current
consumers. The new algorithm rewards the sites that are mobile-friendly. This happened because
mobile searches have surpassed desktop searches and the implementation of a new algorithm has
become urgent. Bottom line: to be among the best affiliate marketing sites, you must have a mobile-
friendly website!
If you don’t already have a responsive affiliate site, place this on the top of your priorities and make the
necessary changes. As an alternative, you can also set a viewpoint for your website which would still be
better than an oversized page for mobile screens. Every user becomes annoyed when he has to zoom in
or pinch on wide pages. Be sure he won’t be coming back to your website anytime soon if you don’t
offer him a pleasurable experience! Goggle doesn’t like it and the best affiliate marketing sites shouldn’t
either.
Voice Search is becoming very popular
As more and more people are turning to Google to ask questions, the search engine is adapting to their
requests and encourages this practice. People ask simple questions, such as: “Where can I play online
bingo?”, and Google is giving them the answer. With this trend comes a shift in how words are used for
searching. The best affiliate marketing sites know that key words are becoming irrelevant. Many
marketers who fell in the habit of creating over-optimized, key-words-stuffed content now have to shift
their focus to creating content that legitimately benefits the viewer.
This transition started a long time ago, in 2011 to be more precise, when Google created the Panda
algorithm, a tool that was geared for eliminating key word based search results. This opened the way for
more sophisticated ways to search. Today, more and more people and using their voice, instead of their
fingers, to search for things they are interested in. The semantic search favors sites that give answers to
common questions over those that simply use keywords.
Last but not least
The best affiliate marketing sites must always adapt to the needs and wishes of their viewers. As an
affiliate, you should review your content strategy and start focusing on answering questions of your
customers. Think how you can help your viewers find what they’re interested in, and then, give them
something more!
