The total number of people who took part in the survey was 16. And what I noticed was that only 40% of the participants were males and 60% were girls. I thought that this was slightly ironic seeing as it tends to be mostly girls who speak up about being bullied and that feel most comfortable talking about their feelings.

Although my target audience was secondary school students I thought it would be very important to check if this age range were actually aware of short films as otherwise it would have been pointless creating a short when they tend to avoid them. However looking at my survey, the respondents were mostly people who were in secondary school or early college years and the results showed that 90% of the participants had watched short films. And of this 90% most tend to watch it across the platforms were I will be uploading mine. These have been detailed below:

Something that I did realise was that the percentage of people who preferred genre for Drama was the lowest out of them all and this is what my short film was. As a result I came to the decision that if I had more time then I would have tried to incorporate some of the other genres in the film to make sure that it is as interesting as possible as much as the target audience would like it to be. However because my topic is serious and has been created for educational purposes this would be quite hard to do.

As my film has been created for educational purposes I thought that it would be necessary to clarify if this is actually something that people consider to be interesting. I had originally thought that a lot of people would have replied saying no however 18% said maybe, 6% said no and 76% said yes. This assured me that my goal was appropriate. A comment which I found interesting was ‘as long as it’s not what I’ve learnt already in PSHE’ as the reason why I focused on bullying is because this is something that as you gets older doesn’t get promoted as much.

What I found interesting was the frequency in the amount of young people who watched short films. I was surprised to find that 47% watched it once a week.



Most of the people who took part were students



What I found interesting was that not a lot of people chose Science-Fiction however this was probably a result of the minority of boys who took part



Only 1% of the people who took part had never watched a short film before
