DEFINITION

Sales promotion is a marketing activity

that adds to the basic value of the product

or services for a limited period of time

and directly stimulates purchasing by the

target audience.

At level of consumer-called consumer promotion.

E.g.: free gifts, samples, price offs.

• At level of dealers and distribution- called fradle

promotion.

E.g.: free goods, display contests, dealer sales

contests, push money etc.

• At level of sales person-called sales force promotion.

E.g.: sales men’s contests, bonus and sales rallies.
