EMM is an evolving organizational trend that deals with the business, as well as technological context, of the increasing trend of mobile devices usage in routine business operations.
EMM
Enterprise mobility management (EMM) involves combination of mobile device management (MDM), mobile application management (MAM) and mobile information management (MIM).
EMM = MDM + MAM + MIM
The term refers not only to mobile workers and mobile devices, but also to the mobility of corporate data. Enterprise mobility can improve employee productivity, but it also creates security risks.
EMM is primarily centered on the enterprise governance, security, management and control of mobile computing technologies. It encompasses processes and policies across all mobile devices that have part or a major stake within business processes.
Enterprise mobility has proved to be an opportunity for organizational transformation. Anytime, anywhere access to information and realization of business benefits like better customer service, employee satisfaction, new business opportunities and reduced operating cost are crucial drivers to implementing enterprise mobility across industry verticals.
Cost Complexity Corporate data security
The primary challenges of enterprise mobility three C’s:
1) CYOD instead of BYOD Enterprises are now thinking about following ‘Choose Your Own Device’ (CYOD) instead of BYOD, where companies will pre-select a mobile ecosystem. Employees can choose from a controlled group of devices with pre-installed apps. CYOD can be extremely useful in bringing down complications of device management.
Future Trends
2) Access and Identity Management (IAM)In 2014, user identification and authentication will be a top priority for companies. Privacy concerns can be significantly reduced with proper access and identity management.According to Gartner “There are three aspects of IAM to focus on: single sign-on, adaptive access control and privacy”
3) Enterprise-focused App DevelopmentCustom enterprise-apps will result in increased work efficiency of employees. In addition, well designed business-to-consumer apps will also deliver a great user experience to clients, thus proving enterprises’ sincerity among clients. Overall, enterprise-focused app development is going to get bigger in 2014. At the same time, we will see enterprises adopting and securing the most popular productivity apps for internal use.
4) Cloud SecuritySecuring cloud technology will be among the great moves in enterprise mobility for the year 2014. We will see some companies set up local clouds, while others will seek to integrate personal clouds with enterprise clouds without compromising on security.
5) Mobility Managed ServicesMobility managed services (MMS) encompass the IT and process management services required by a company to acquire, provision and support smartphones, tablets and ruggedized field force devices with integrated cellular and/or wireless connectivity. MMS engagements provide a level of control to companies supporting individual liable devices, or bring your own device, accessing corporate resources and information.
