Winter Storm – Mid-Atlantic/Northeast December 8 – continuous:

• Wintery precipitation will arrive in the Mid-Atlantic this morning and continue into the

Northeast later today

• Snowfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches, with isolated higher amounts

• A Winter Storm Warning went into effect from northern Virginia to southern

Pennsylvania at 3:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. EST today

• Winter Weather Advisories are currently in effect over much of this area for

snowfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches with isolated higher amounts

Impacts:

• Power outages due to downed trees and power lines have been the primary impacts

• 25,712 customers without power (down from 199,695) in FEMA Region III; sporadic

outages elsewhere

• VA: 14,852 customers without power (down from 138,201) (DOE; as of 8:00 am EST)

• WV: 8,884 customers without power (down from 20,698)

• Numerous traffic accidents and delays in ground and air transportation

Response:

• State EOC in VA & MD remains partially activated; all others at Normal Operations

• FEMA Region III remains at Enhanced Watch; all other Regions are Not Activated

• NRCC is not activated; NWC is at Watch/Steady State

• No shortfalls, unmet needs or requests for FEMA assistance
