And this gun law rule after the massacre if 16 school children in Dunblane, Scotland happened. In general, about 4% only of household carry on firearms. Intentional gun death rates in this country are only 0.04 per 100, 000 people (low rate, isn’t it?) In Japan, the guns laws are almost like similar with U.K., and the percentage off intentional gun death rate is even lower, 0.07% per 100,000. In Canada, where guns laws are somewhat looser, some hand guns are available, but assault weapons are banned, 26% of homes have guns present. Almost four people per 100,000 are killed in intentional gun violence each year. Switzerland requires registration of guns and licensing of gun owners, but places no restriction on the types of guns owned. Gun deaths are 6.2 per 100,000 people and 27.2% of homes have weapons. In United States, there is a high- rate of gun deaths, a staggering 13.47 people per 100,000 are killed in intentional gun violence and 41% of homes keep firearms. United State is somewhat more liberal when it comes to gun laws. Their gun registration, licensing requirements and gun availability differ from state to state. Access and purchasing is a lot easier as compared to other industrialized nation. In Norway, there are 6.65% death rate per 100,000 people and is considered as the second country with a highest rate of gun deaths and violence. With this figure, we can conclude that the more guns are available and can be access, the higher the gun violence. On the other hand, the NRA (National Rifle Association) and the pro- gun believes that prohibiting access to handguns and doing away with concealed weapons will not have a positive effects on gun deaths either. Well, that certain fact may also be true. The above rate is really dazzling but have you ever wonder what percentage of rapists, thieves, and murderers would choose not to attack a person because that person was armed? Even a person who is well armed can be attack by any of these too.
