Hope everyone had a joyous holiday season and that 2014 will be a Healthy and Happy New Year for us all. Our second meeting of November took place on the 21st at University Place. Our very special guest was Dis- trict Governor George Quinn. After an introduction by First Vice District Governor Doug Long, DG George Quinn updated us on what is going on throughout District 29-I and beyond. Our first and only meeting of December was our Annual Christmas Dinner on the 5th. Everyone enjoyed a deli- cious meal and good fellowship. After dinner a certain “Jolly Old Elf” made an appearance, as well. You can see pictures from this event on the Keyser Lions Facebook page. There will be no meeting on January 2nd. Our first and only meeting of January will be on the 16th at 6:30 pm at University Place. We will be hosting a Zone II meeting. Zone Chair Lion Rob Bright will update us on events across the Zone and District. Representatives from other clubs will give updates about their club’s activities. We will also have a short presentation about the successful use of the new eye screening equipment in the Mineral County Schools. Let’s make sure our club is well-represented at this meeting. There will also be a Board Meeting prior to this meeting at 6 pm. Plans have not been finalized for our first meeting in February. At our second meeting on February 20th our guest speaker will be Christy Conley from the Center for Organ Recovery and Education. She will talk to us about the importance of organ donation. Thanks to Lion Howard Boggs for suggesting this topic and making the initial contact with Christy to make this presentation possible.
