  • The Commissioner General

    5

    Ms. Diana Bracco is the Commissioner General of Section for Padiglione Italia at Expo Milano 2015.

    Some of the tasks of the Commissioner General are as follows:

    Art. 18, paragraph 1, BIE Convention (which regulates the Universal Exhibitions): At an exhibition a participant or a group of participants may use a geographical title relating to a participating Party only with the authorisation of the Section Commissioner-General or the Section Commissioner of the Government of the Party concerned;

    Art. 19, paragraphs 1 and 2, BIE Convention: Anything exhibited in a national section must have a close connection with the country exhibiting it (for example, articles having their origin in the territory of the participating Government, or articles created by nationals of the country). With the authorisation of the Commissioners-General or Commissioners of the other States concerned, other articles or products may be presented if provided they serve only to complete the exhibit.

    Art. 2, paragraph 1e, Italian Prime Ministers Decree of appointment of the Commissioner General of Section for Italy assigns to the Commissioner the responsibility of the "coordination of the management of the exhibition spaces in which will be organised the presence of the entire Italian system, including the involvement and coordination of the presence of other Italian public entities, as well as institutions, government agencies or private associations. "

    Tasks and functions

  • Mission Italy

    6

    Offering the world a strong vision of the Italian quality for health and lifestyle.

    Integrating Italy-museum with Italy-laboratory, using the unique heritage of culture and enterprises of the different territories;

    Reinforcing the tools at the service of the internationalization of regional agribusiness products, highlighting their unique characteristics, enhancing and protecting brands and Italian qualities;

    Improving the connection of the Italian start-ups in the science, research and technological international hubs;

    Strengthening the Italian tourist vocation, not only pointing on the excellences, but having as objective the promotion of the entire Italian system;

  • Italy Pavilion for Expo Milano 2015

    7

    The Italian Pavilion aims to represent:

    The gateway to our country, the laboratory of international relations, Italys business card to the world.

    A window to our countrys history, a unique place able to mix tradition with innovation, past with future.

    An iconic place where Italian excellence can shine.

    A unique brand that can help Made in Italy enter new markets and find more opportunities for development and growth.

    Above all, the Italy Pavilion will be the most visited Pavilion at the Expo.

  • The Theme: Vivaio Italia

    8

    The theme chosen by the Italy Pavilion to represent Expo 2015s contents is the VIVAIO (the seedbed).

    This metaphor allows us to highlight various characteristics of Italian culture and society in these times

    of change:

    A nursery of fresh ideas, proposals, innovative solutions and best practices that Italy offers to the

    international community;

    A protected space that helps projects and talents to sprout;

    A space of growth, development and training;

    A permanent and open laboratory;

    A place of visibility for fresh and young energies

    that work in our country, involving Italian universities,

    research labs and start-ups.

  • THE ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT

    10

  • Architectural Concept

    11

    The architectural project for the Italy Pavilion is conceived as a community surrounding its piazza. It will be the place where architecture-landscape-nature (nature, roots and forest) and architecture-landscape-urban life (void-town-piazza) commingle and merge to give rise to Landscape-Italy.

  • Embracing Sustainability

    12

    The project develops the idea of the most energy-independent architectural organism possible,

    where the maximum balance between energy production and consumption is ensured.
