Pastor George Matthews Utilizes His Leadership Skills

Pastor George Matthews graduated from San Jose State University where he earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration. He later earned his M.B.A. in Marketing from Golden Gate University, San Francisco, California in 1993. In 2003, he accepted the call to pastor and received the blessings and support of Bishop W.W. Hamilton, Jurisdictional President, California Northwest, C.O.G.I.C., to launch the Genesis Worship Center. It is among the fastest growing churches in the East Bay.

The vision of Genesis Worship Center is to worship the name of Jesus Christ through individual and corporate worship; to instruct the saints for works of ministry through instruction means; to fellowship one another through fellowship means of encouraging one another and to evangelize our community, state, country and world through evangelism means which proclaims the Word of God and calls people everywhere to respond to Jesus Christ through faith.

Under his leadership and with blessings of God, Genesis Worship Center purchased a church building after only two years of ministry and fully renovated the interior and exterior of the building in just 10 months period to further expand its ministry offerings to include programs like "King's Kids Preschool and Childcare.” Pastor George Matthews was officially installed as Superintendent by Bishop W.W. Hamilton in 2006.

Pastor George Matthews has received his biblical foundation at New Sweet Home Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor A.C. Macklin where he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Personal Savior. He later joined the Glad Tidings Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop J.W. Macklin where he served in the Youth, Sunday School and Music Departments. He has worked in a diverse number of leadership capacities for over 13 years for the Hewlett Packard Company.
