Societal Success vs Belief in Supernatural

Embed Size (px)

DESCRIPTION

Is belief in the supernatural necessary for success as a society? When we compare ourselves with other prosperous democracies using 25 measures of “success”, every 10-unit increase in belief in the supernatural is associated with a 7-unit decrease in societal success. The U.S. is both the most religious and the most dysfunctional of these societies. The correlation between societal success & lack of belief in the supernatural does NOT mean lack of belief leads to success. It does show that societal success does NOT DEPEND on belief in the supernatural. See journal article by paleontologist, Gregory Paul: http://www.epjournal.net/filestore/EP07398441_c.pdf
