How to present to a small audience?
visit www.kamyabology.com for best management ppts
Introduction
Presentations are easier to make and
give, standing in front of the projector and
gesturing towards it while changing slides.
But such presentations are made for big audiences.
However, today many presentations are given to small groups,
usually less than ten people.
This sometimes becomes a problem as everything needs to
change according to the size of the group you are presenting to.
Let us look at how to give an effective presentation to a small
audience.

Why is a typical presentation not
effective?
A typical presentation is usually made, not by keeping in mind
the size of the group.
Creating too many slides, ample research, reading them or
asking audience to read them; are some methods which do not
work with small groups.
Thus the effort is wasted and the presentation is unsuccessful.

even email it to yourself

5. Non- verbal communication
The most important aspect when presenting to a small
audience, as nothing gets unnoticed with a small group

you sit, the way you speak- all come into notice and show how
confidently you can deliver an idea

5.a. Deliver while standing or
sitting?
Stand when you are
delivering a more formal part of
your presentation
You can sit when you are answering questions and are more in
a conversational tone
Do not stand for the entire presentation
Stand when you have to illustrate a chart or show something on
a white board

5. b. Being Seated
Your seat should not be in the
middle of the audience
Take a position that is beside the projector or closer to the
projector and the decision maker
Sit, facing all your audience, keeping an eye contact with them
Be familiar with the space in which you have to give the
presentation; this helps you prepare your seat better

5.c. Gestures and body
language
Eye contact with your audience is imperative
Shows confidence and the power of deliverance
Do not make much hand movements, they are a distraction;
until you need to point towards a chart for explanation
Do not fidget with things like pen or paper in your hands, or
shake your legs when sitting
A confident body language is a key to successful presentations
