Organisation Highlights
Improvements
Readership has improved over the year by 96%;
Magazine Content has improved by the introduction of the Reviewer Feedback Programme;
Liabilities and expenses from running the organisation has reduced by 89% through prudence in spending and maximising on e-Networking Resources and mechanisms;
Contributory articles/participation Flow position has strengthened with the magazine being able to stand on its own without far-fetched seeking out for articles;
The Kenyan Legal brand-name has improved with a unified organisation’s brand now recognisable
Relationships with Law Schools, Law school deans, unions , staff and Law Students’ organisations has changed for the better;
A deliverable 3 Year Strategic Plan has been developed that could move the organisation to the next level;
Team culture has changed to performance driven…
Challenges
χ Slow growth into capturing the remainder Law Schools;
χ Uncommitted reception in the captured Law Schools;
χ Low operating capital delaying key development projects;
χ Scepticism by Law School journals as a possible “competitor” in
their respective institutions, hence less collaboration;
χ Slow or no response by Legal-related organisations on possible
collaborations and associations
χ Lack of capital to go into print.
Achievements
Established our presence in Kenya’s 9 Law Schools headed by Branch Directors:
University of Nairobi School of Law;
Africa Nazarene University School of Law;
Strathmore University School of Law;
Moi University School of Law;
Mt. Kenya University School of Law;
Kenyatta University School of Law;
Kabarak University School of Law;
Riara University School of Law;
JKUAT School of Law.
Achievements
Successfully established a Reviewer Feedback Programme whose panel members are Law Lecturers and Practicing Advocates under the patronage of Prof. Morris K. Mbondenyi with a mandate of reviewing submitted articles for publishing.
Achievements
In the interest of promoting Human Rights, we are an official partner/platform for the Human Rights Without Frontiers International thus establishing their presence in Kenya.
Achievements
Communication, recognition and Publicity The communications department of Kenyan Legal has overtime generated
interest in our monthly publications by the public and an increased coverage of theLaw Schools in Kenya. The results to this were the generated interest in ourmagazine by organizations, requests by Legal organizations/institutions to profilethem in our publications; for instance the WPA-Kenya and the Kenya Law.
The main recognitions we refer to are the request by KHRC during their strategicPlan 2014-2018 launch at Safari Park Hotel to join them as a means to help inHuman Rights profiling and awareness campaign. The second recognition was thenomination of the Kenyan Legal Team to the Kenyatta University Students’Association Awards (KUSA Awards) 2014 in the leadership category in the field onLaw.

The Kenyan Legal Magazine is now a fully recognized magazine by institutions and law students’ organizations as:
1. University of Nairobi-School of Law;2. Kenyatta University-School of Law;3. Africa Nazarene University-School of Law;4. Witness Protection Agency-Kenya;5. Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC);6. Human Rights Without Frontiers International;7. Kabarak University Law Students Association;8. Law Assembly of Africa Nazarene University;9. Kenyatta University Students’ Association(KUSA);10. Law Students’ Society of Kenya(LSSK).
Proposed responses
Commence a funds Drive with a view to;
1. Review in detail the above improvements, challenges and achievements
and chart a focused plan for the achievement of the Strategic Plan 2014-
2017;
2. Pursue possibility of going to print with a benefit of capital self
independence to achieve the strategic plan 2014-2014;
3. Structure a working strategy for acquiring strategic partnerships with
legal-related organisations;
4. Lias with Law School deans and Branch directorates to further Stabilize
readership and Law School branches.
