fablab : a workplace

Teaching to people and organizations

developping objects that can be iterated

exploring new models, including open-source and économy

building bricks in an open écosystem and sharing them

being a tool so that actors can transform willing and needs in real usable solutions

extended : a network of places sharing human time, knowledge and tools.

Teaching to people teaching to people

developping platforms for sharing, crea-tion, and to transform objects into value (for somebody, to solve a problem, to create an activity). Wikis, inventories...

contributing to collective intelligence by open-source knowledge sharing, learning blocks, méthods, technical and uses cases solutions.

free workshops every week for anybody

You can use tools only with a project and sha-ring knowledge. no fee. no other conditions.

Companies and organisms are paying and have their days in the week

one fablab, some places with tools and people, one inventory and one portfolio

step one : let’s make a fablab with those who want to MaKe things and for those who don’t know they can.

ResulTs Of 2012

1st international meeting of the french speaking fablabs

20 projects of objects

20 free workshops

academic workshops between school and engineers schools

400 beginners at the public workshops

Montréal – Dakar - Ouagadougou – Hué (Vietnam) – Rennes – Britanny region.

We do not have enough space and machines... But other places want to join...

2013 – The exTenDeD faBLaB BegIns

Writing the concept of the extended fablab of Rennes

The city of Rennes funds 3d printers(15), 75 arduino starters kits and tools for 12 public spaces

The labfab wins a 200 000 € grant from the french state

The labfab recruits another fab manager

Preparation of french speaking cursus about digital fabrication

Teaching to people teaching to people teaching to...

The extended fablab of Rennes at the end of 2013 : 15 places.

1 main workplace, 1 academic, 1 highschool, 12 public spaces (with 12 people soon working on digital exclusion and digital projects of the citizens).

+ 27 projects emerging through the interna-tional « daTaplus » challenge we launched (france, africa, Québec)

Bootcamp of hué (Vietnam)

Organizing the first public event with the 6 brittany fablabs : 4500 persons.

Projects of people selected at maker faire Rome, exhibited at the shanghai biennale of art, in festivals, first services sold to clients.
