Munich, POP 2015 hits the markFirst Italian-German meeting in the package printing chain

Italian printing andconverting machineryis one of the country’sis one of the country’stop industriesexporting about 90%of production aroundthe world and workingwith determination toincrease its globalstanding.

An important operational tool in pursuing this objective is the “POP - Print OurPack” network promoted by a partnership between ACIMGA – the Italianmanufacturers’ association of machinery for the graphic, converting an paperindustry – and G&K TechMedia, a German leading publisher in the packagingand label printing industry.

The debut took place with a great success on March 10th in Munich during ICEEurope, part of the “POP - Print Our Pack - International package printingconference 2015”.

Attendees numbered over 100 from every segment of the package printing chain.

The event provided ameeting ground for theopinions, experiencesand needs of decisionmakers, convertersand end-users on oneand end-users on onehand, and the answersprovided by expertsand those who arecalled to develop thetechnology to satisfythem on the other.

Prominent participants attended the event, organized by partners ACIMGA andG&K TechMedia with the cooperation of the Italian Ministry for EconomicDevelopment and ICE – the Italian agency for foreign trade, on the occasionrepresented by director Fabio Casciotti.

What do the brands occupying prime positions on food and non-food shelvesacross the world ask of the package printing industry?

Marcel Keuenhof, Project Manager, Heinz, and Dennis Bankmann, productdevelopment manager, Henkel presented the vision and needs of major companiesand final consumers, followed by a discussion with top technology suppliers abouttechnological innovations capable of ensuring the visual impact, functionality,safety and traceability of packages.

The round table, moderated by journalist Nick Coombes from NarrowWebTech,was attended by Aldo Peretti, CEO, Uteco; Marco Calcagni, Commercial andMarketing Director, Omet; Arturo Bergamaschino, from the Cerutti PackagingEquipment BOD; Harry Sieljes, Managing director, Drukkerij Zwart B.V.; and DorisWallner-Bösmüller, owner, Bösmüller Print Management GESMBH & CO.KG.

In his keynote to themeeting AndreaBriganti, GeneralManager, ACIMGA,emphasized the powerof a tool like “POP2015” in encouragingthe development oftrade communities,trade communities,both virtual andphysical, to exchangespecific knowledge andexpertise.

It is a project partnership the Germans put great store by, as underlined byHarald Feldkamp, editor at G&K TechMedia.

The effectiveness of the networking approach chosen by ACIMGA’s newmanagement as a tool to develop and increase international relationships andcontacts will bring further opportunities for meeting and discussion in the course ofthe year. The next one is scheduled during Converflex – May, Fieramilano – andnext fall with the second edition of POP conference.
