Student Program

to learn about PR and pursue their career goals
Communications and Community
• Strong social media presence • Conversion to MailChimp and compliance with
new anti-spam regulations• Web site renewal• Focus on value-added content and a strong
editorial calendarGOAL: a trusted voice for PR in our community –
with strong member engagement
Professional Development and Networking
• High-quality PD events / Social events free• Mixture of formats, including panel discussions
and case studies• Building partnerships with colleagues at IABC,
Women in Communications and Technology, HCPRA, etc.
• Promote accreditation GOAL: Focus on high-value, low-cost events for
members; sustain momentum with monthly events
Governance and Board Administration
• New Board members• Recruited a CPA as our new Treasurer– Submitting audited statements for last two years– Updating filings with CRA – Implementing electronic record-keeping
GOAL: leverage technology and National Office supports to ensure smooth and transparent operation of the Society
Strategic Planning and Team-building
• Strategic retreat for Board July/August• Agenda includes a member consultation to test
our plans and get advice/input– Watch for invitation
• Our web renewal and member engagement projects will be collaborative– We need your stories and your ideas
GOAL: consistently high member satisfaction and engagement
A Look Ahead to 2014-15• Member Engagement Program: “I’m a CPRS Member
and here’s why”– Showcase our Board, members, students– Demonstrate the diversity of our PR stories
• Demonstrate the power of membership– Show me, don’t tell me!
• Engage more members online, and as volunteers, speakers, mentors and mentees
GOAL: monitor, measure and share successes with CPRS family across Canada
