The INTANGIBLE cultural heritage of
Slovenia
• the expression 'living' cultural heritage was used in the Cultural Heritage Protection Act (UL RS, no. 16/2008 dated 15.2.2008) from 2008 till 2016
• From 2016: intangible cultural heritage
New elements of ICH in the Register
• Traditional production of sea salt; • The Shrovetide custom in Ponikve; • Dialects along the River Čabranka and the upper Kolpa; • Making drevak boats; • Hunting Culture; • Weaving; • Making Ljubljana Palm Sunday bunches; • Gančki majoš; • Walk on the Path of Remembrance and Comradeship; • Drystone walling; • Launching gregorčki models for St. Gregory's Day.
Steps from national Register to Unesco
• Step one: entry of elements to a national register of intangible cultural heritage
• Step two: declaration of certain elements as intangible cultural heritage of local or national importance (until 2016 ‘living masterpieces’)
• Step three: nomination to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
