PRINCIPLES OF EFFECTIVE SPEAKING Mere Talking is not speaking: A good speaker is much

more than a good conversationalist.

Bothe verbal and Non-verbal aspects are involved in speaking: Over 90% of the effect comes from the non-verbal factors.

Content/Subject knowledge is essence of any speech.

The confidence of the speaker determines the speaker’s grasp on the audience: Access the right.

Right words for right occasion: Use strong vibrant and contemporary words.

Avoid using unfamiliar words to the audience (Jargons)

Explain the Acronyms upfront: The objective should be to convey the message with clarity and not try to impress the audience unnecessarily.

The use of mannerisms must be consciously avoided : (Non-words like – typically, basically etc)

Do not depend on memorizing the content.

The eye-contact should be maintained with the audience: too much of reading may deviate the audience from listening to the speaker.
