Kyeemagh, which is also known as Little Greece by the Bay for its numerous restaurants and shops, is 13 kilometres south of Sydney’s CBD and is nestled on the western shore of Botany Bay. Development of the area really took off during the inter-war and post-war years and now tourism has fuelled growth with high density housing mushrooming near the beach at adjacent suburbs like Brighton-Le-Sands.
It does have a easily spotted rural and colonial past – Occupation Road Market Gardens are one of the oldest in the state and were cultivated first by European settlers and then by Chinese migrants.
PriceFinder reports houses sold for the median price of $700,000 last year, registering an increase of 7% from the median of the previous year of $652,500. Total sales turnover for Kyeemagh is relatively low with only 7 house sales and 4 unit sales recorded last year . This may result in median estimates for 2008 being unreliable.
