Sustainable construction
Today, sustainable buildings are the focus of modern building planning
For these purpose different councils, associations and institutes were founded.
The aim is to promote sustainable and economically efficient construction even more strongly in future.
Application Engineering Foams Europe
Sustainable construction
Ecological Quality Protection of Environment and resources Economical QualityOptimisation of the total life cycle costs
Socio-Cultural and Functional Quality Health, saftey and user comfort
Technical Quality Execution of the building and its systems
Location Profile
Process Quality Construction progress
Risks and relaltionship at the micro-location
After the assessment of the building follows an award in Bronze, Silver or Gold
Internationally different rating systems and labels were established to make sustainability measurable and visible
Example
An internationally standardized solution is still missing
The usual assessment system

Sustainable constructions need product declarations

Environmental impact (standardized)
The Eco-Efficiency Analysis looks at products and processes from an economic as well as environmental standpiont so as to identify the most efficient one.We used the example of the 3-liter house in Ludwigshafen's Brunck district. The results are confirmed by the Eco-Institut in Freiburg, Germany. The method is certified by the German Technical Inspection Agency TÜV
EPDs - Environmental Product Declarations for
Expanded Polystyrene with infra-red absobers
according to ISO 14025 are available. Visit: www.eumeps.org

Styropor® (1951)
Peripor® (1995)
Neopor® (1995)
BASF's EPS Family
Historical development of EPS (Expandable Polystyrene)
In comparsion to conventional EPS, Neopor® can achieve the same insulation performance while requiring considerably less material
Neopor® – The original grey
Neopor® is the original grey EPS from the most powerful innovator for energy-efficient insulation from the inventor of Styropor®

BASF manufactures Neopor® in the form of granules
BASF manufactures Neopor® in the form of polystyrene granules that contain a blowing agent and are thus expandaple. These black particles in the form of beads are then made into silver-grey blocks, panels or molded parts by processing companies.

Basic principles about air conditioners
Air conditioner consume energy for cooling the air (sensible part)
and addition for dehumidification the indoor air (latent capacity) Latent capacity dehumdifies the air
Neopor® advantage in hot climate
Sensible cooling capacity lowers the air temperature
Solar radiation
