St. Kitts Economic Citizenship – Ways to Acquire Citizenship

St Kitts offers economic citizenship for foreigners through an investment program. The program includes two options – investment in real estate or direct donation to the SIDF (Sugar Industry Diversification Federation). Here we discuss about these two options one by one. With the real estate option, applicants need to make a purchase cost of around 10% of the buying price and government fees of 35000 dollars and 15000 dollars for each additional dependant and 3500 dollars as due diligence fees for adults included in the application. However, the processing fees will vary as per the type of each case. Real estate property once bought cannot be resold within 5 years and if anyone does so, the next buyer will not be qualified for citizenship.

Economic Citizenship - The Real Estate Option

Under the real estate option, interested people are asked to make an investment in designated real estate with a minimum value of 400000 dollars. This investment program lets two or more applicants to apply by making an integrated investment by buying once piece of land for which each main applicants pays 400000 dollars towards the investment. Apart from this, people need to pay a certain number of due diligence and processing fees to the government of St. Kitts. Those fees include 7500 dollars for processing and due diligence by the main applicant, 4000 dollars by each additional dependent who is over the 18 years. To get approval to the application of the real state option, applicants need to make 50000 dollars by main applicant, 25000 dollars by spouse, and 25000 dollars for children.

Apart from the above, people who choose real estate option needs to learn about the processing details of the program. There will be purchase costs that come around 2-% of the buying price. Under real estate option, only condominiums and villas units are qualified for citizenship and it is only from an approved developer. Another option to get St. Kitts citizenship is to make direct contribution to SIDF. For this, people need to make a non-refundable donation of 2500000 dollars to the SIDF, a public charity run by PricewaterhouseCoopers. SIDF option includes 4 different categories wherein applicants with 3 dependants need to make 300,000 dollars non-refundable contribution and applicants with 5 dependants need to donate 350000 dollars.

Application CriteriaIf the applicant has 7 dependants, then he needs to make 450000 dollars to the SIDF. For above 7 dependants, a non-refundable contribution of 50000 dollars is enough. These amounts are comprehensive government fees that are paid by the main applicants except the due diligence fees, which are being paid as 7500 dollars for the main applicant as processing and due diligence fees. 4000 dollars processing and due diligence fees should be paid for each dependant. If spouse of the main applicant is excluded and dependents of 18 years are included, then the main applicant needs to make a minimum investment of 5000 dollars for each dependant to the government.
