OJT - Junior will feel more empowered, motivate to learn new things Highly skilled employees must spend considerable amount of time to explain and answering question from new employees New employees can take control of their own learning (high autonomy) Can consume too much time on one assignment Mentoring - Less experienced employees learn from more experienced one Takes away the seniors productive time

  10. 10. Question 1. Microsoft has recognized the shortage of skill workers by initiating the skill 2000 program. However, it still has no structure training program for its new employees. How will this affect them in the future ? Should they change this policy? Answer: Yes, they should modify this policy. Company could consider to implement off-job-training with teamwork approach, IT new employee can improve their communication skill and gain different perspective from different background ppl.
  11. 11. Question 2. The learn as you go work method can be vulnerable to costly mistakes that set a company back on deadline or project. Why is Microsoft even more vulnerable to this threat because of their industry? Stock option are an expensive part of Microsoft labor cost. If these were eliminated, what impact would it have on its ability to hire the best and the brightest ? Should it alter its current ESPP Plan? Answer : Stock option could increase self-belonging but it isnt directly related with beneficial of employee. If its gone it will increase turnover. Alternative : based on their team capability they can

How should Microsoft react to the federal lawsuit alleging that ingraid Microsoft corporate practises, such as performance grading system and flat hierarchical structure, discriminates against minorities? Answer : Microsoft needs to pay more attention to issues of grading system, organizational structure, and discrimination. Grading system needs to be applied because it is an added value for Microsoft, and to improve the payroll system. With the establishment of organizational structure, this will make a career at Microsoft increasingly widespread. Discrimination should be eliminated, because Microsoft should be more objective in assessing a person. It was all going to have an impact on Microsoft's image in society
  13. 13. Question 4. Microsoft is in many ways dominated by the persona of Bill Gates. What effect would his absence have on the company? Answer : At first it may be difficult to develop software, but with its best employees and clever, they can develop software and continue to make innovations so as to facilitate the users in the future. Microsoft already has their best practice and excellent management to run the company.
