LLAADIESSS AANNND GENNNTLEEMMEENN,It is my honor to invite you to the second Life Sciences Baltics 2014 forum, which will be held in Vilnius, Lithuania, on 10-12th September, 2014. Life Sciences Baltics 2014 is an international forum for world class biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device experts from around the world. The first Life Sciences Baltics 2012 forum presented the significant potential of life sciences industries in the Baltic States – Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania to more than 800 participants from 30 different countries. Lithuania’s life sciences industry has been skyrocketing over the last two decades and is now regarded as one of the most advanced in Central and Eastern Europe. The biotechnology, pharmaceutical research and production sector demonstrated 22% annual growth and over 80% of the production was exported. The success of the Lithuanian biotechnology industry starts with the well-developed educational system involving 16 academic institutions and 15 most competent research and development (R&D) centers. With a talent pool of 18 000 researchers and

specialists and over 100 companies operating in the life sciences area, the country is on the fast track to become one of the top high tech innovation centers in Europe. To support this, 400 million EUR investments into five research valleys is secured by the Government of Lithuania.

Life Sciences Baltics 2014 forum will be an excellent opportunity to meet major business and science stakeholders in the industry from East and West countries, learn about major trends in the sector and take part in the Nobel Prize winner’s lecture. We believe that the event will establish a unique platform for effective partnership in the field of life sciences in Lithuania and the region. Our country would be delighted to welcome you at Life Sciences Baltics 2014.
