Michael Lomonosov was born in village Denisovka, Russian Empire in 1711. He was the only child in the family. His mother died in 1720. His father worked as fisherman. Michael began to help his father at the age of 10.

Deacon taught Mykhailo to read and write.

Mikhail went with a fish caravan to Moscow in December 1730.

In 1735, Lomonosov was sent to St. Petersburg. He was enrolled to the University of the Academy of Sciences.

Michael went to Europe in 1736. He studied 5 years there. He studied Natural Sciences.

Then Michael returned to Russia. He continued his researches and got a professor’s degree.

The main achievements of Lomonosov’s reseacheswere:

the materialist interpretation of chemical phenomena;

broad introduction of physical methods and concepts;

creating the corpuscular theory and the general formulation of the law of conservation of matter and motion.

He also founded the first Russian university.

Michael died in 1765 in St. Petersburg. He died from a cold.
