SAY MY NAME!

Introduction:

Local names of different species may lead everyone to confusion. For example,

what we know in Iligan City as “matangbaka”, a kind of fish, is known as “Kutob” in other

places. Due to this kind of problem arising, scientific names are invented to allow people

around the world to communicate accurately about species, thus, “kutob” or

“matangbaka” is generally called as Selar crumenophthalmus. With the help of

international rules on naming plants and animals, zoologists and botanists avoid naming

the same species twice. This means that each scientific name is unique.

In this activity, you will be tested on how much you know about naming

organisms.

Objectives:

I. The students would be able to review their skills in addition and getting an

average.

II. The students would be able to identify scientific names of some organisms.

Obstacles:

Before answering the main question:

Your group is provided a set of costume. The first member of the team should

wear it all, and wave like a beauty queen. After performing, the next member in the line

should also do the same until all members in the group has performed.
