THE SUN

• The Sun is the center of our solar system.

• The Sun is the largest object in our solar system.

• All of the planets in our solar system orbit the Sun.

• The Sun is a yellow star.

MERCURY

• Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun.

• It is only a little bit bigger than the moon.

• Mercury is extremely hot .

VENUS

• Venus is the sister planet to Earth.

• Venus is almost the same size as Earth.

• It is the second planet away from the Sun.

EARTH

• Earth is the third planet from the Sun.

• It is the only planet that currently supports life.

• Earth is the planet we live on.

MARS

• The fourth planet in our solar system is Mars, our moon is not a planet.

• Mars is called the red planet because of the way its soil looks.

• Scientists believe that there used to be water on the planet Mars.

JUPITER

• Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system.

You could fit all of the planets inside it!

• Jupiter is made of gases.

• Jupiter has a giant red spot.

SATURN

• Saturn is the second largest planet in our solar system.

• You can tell Saturn from the other planets by its distinct rings.

• Saturn is made of gases.

• Saturn is the sixth planet in our solar system.

URANUS

• Uranus is the seventh planet in our solar system.

• Uranus is made up of gases but has a core made of rock.

NEPTUNE

• Smallest of the planets made of gas.

• Neptune is known for it’s very strong winds.

• Neptune is the eighth and final planet in our solar system.

PLUTO

• Was considered a planet when I was your age.

• No longer considered a planet.

• Pluto is very small, smaller than the moon!

• Made up of ice.
